Bernstein’s compassion and passion for healthcare and serving others in the community inspires the next generation of caregivers, while her scholarship paves the way for this group to train for the future.

This year, the Bailey Bernstein Memorial Scholarship has been awarded to two outstanding students, one from Jamestown High School and one from Wahpeton High School. To qualify, applicants must have a desire to serve in the medical field, demonstrate commitment to community service and reflect JRMC’s Healthy Roots in their lives: attitude, communication, compassion, ownership, respect and teamwork. The scholarship supports local students from Jamestown and Wahpeton pursuing education in healthcare related fields.

The 2025 recipients are:

Rachel Ripplinger, a graduate of Jamestown High School, pursuing social work and psychology.

Scout Woods, a graduate of Wahpeton High School, pursuing biology and pre-dentistry.

Each recipient receives $500, which can be used toward tuition and educational expenses.

“Bailey had a passion for helping others, which is why she was in college, studying for a career in healthcare,” said Mike Delfs, JRMC president and CEO. “These recipients were chosen because their aspirations align with that same passion. Bailey’s family is incredibly thankful that JRMC is so conscientious and thoughtful in finding students with the same values to benefit from this scholarship.”

The Bailey Bernstein Memorial Scholarship was established by Bernstein’s family in 2024 to continue honoring her memory and legacy. Bailey, who pursued degrees in nursing and occupational therapy, showed her love for others and her community in many ways. Her family’s hope is that recipients of this scholarship will pursue careers that reflect Bailey’s compassion and her drive to help others.

The scholarship application process will open again on Jan. 1, 2026.
