The powerful June 20th storm created hardships and tragedies around Valley City and the region.\u00a0 The clean-up efforts are amazing with \u201cneighbors helping neighbors\u201d, it has been heartwarming.\u00a0 With so many people suffering losses, please be patient with City Crews, volunteers and insurance workers as they have many damages to assess and repair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kudos to our city employees for facilitating restoration and clean-up.\u00a0 Great job Everyone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last week people from the North Dakota Department of Emergency Services visited Valley City to assess damages.\u00a0 Along with a tour of Valley City and the transfer station, they confirmed our precise procedures to apply for FEMA cost shares are in line. Many overhead electrical wires went down in the storm when trees fell on them.\u00a0 If there had been underground wiring, there would not have been power outages.\u00a0 The city will provide up to a $5.00 per foot discount for the installation of electrical underground wiring.\u00a0 For information to see if underground is for you, please call:\u00a0 701-845-8143<\/p>\n\n\n\n
