I hope you all had opportunities for investing time with family and friends over the Labor Day weekend.\u00a0 Many of us are \u201clonger in the tooth\u201d than others which often creates a more nostalgic view as we grow older.\u00a0 Call some family and friends, tell them you love them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recently there was a horrible shooting in a Minneapolis church during worship, our hearts go out to all connected.\u00a0 Please pray for the injured, their families and friends that they may heal completely, physically and emotionally.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fall sports, from elementary to university levels, are under way.\u00a0 While our weather is favorable, why not attend afternoon or evening events that best fit your schedule.\u00a0 The kids are excited to see you people attend their events.\u00a0 \u201cMake their day.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We had many Valley City Employees working during our wind and rain storms this summer as it is \u201cAll hands on deck\u201d during those times.\u00a0 Some crews were keeping streets passable during the storms while linemen were working overhead maintaining and restoring power.\u00a0 I believe our largest storm of the year was around June 20th.\u00a0 We had some power outages, but being we are a Public Power Community, our crews were able to be on the job as soon as conditions allowed.\u00a0 Even with the storm, our power was \u201con\u201d 99.91213% of the time in June!\u00a0 Additionally, our membership in Missouri River Energy Services, a Joint Action Agency, allows our electric rates to be consistency lower than Investor Owned Utilities or Electrical Coops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are seeing more and more E-Scooters around town and I imagine they are really fun.\u00a0 Some safety concerns have surfaced with scooters being ridden on streets, cutting across intersections and on sidewalks.\u00a0 Please talk with your kids and friends about the importance of obeying rules of the road and the dangers of distracted drivers.\u00a0 We want all to be safe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
