Jamestown (JRMC) – Jamestown Regional Medical Center (JRMC) recently presented Alexis \u201cLexi\u201d Madcke with the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. The DAISY Award\u00a0is an internationally recognized program that honors the compassionate care and clinical skill of nurses \u2014 values that align perfectly with JRMC\u2019s commitment to excellence in patient care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Madcke, a registered nurse in JRMC\u2019s Family BirthPlace, was nominated twice \u2014 by both a mother and her support person \u2014 for her extraordinary composure and skill during a frightening delivery. Their independent nominations reflect the deep and lasting impact of her care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In her nomination, patient Abigayle Grounds described how Madcke guided her through labor with comfort and compassion \u2014 from teaching counter-pressure techniques to taking time to offer small gestures like a hand massage. During an emergency C-section, Grounds said Madcke stayed by her side and offered constant reassurance until delivery was complete. \u201cShe talked me through everything happening and made sure I felt very comfortable and informed in every decision,\u201d Grounds said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The mother\u2019s support person, Emily Ash, echoed that gratitude. \u201cLexi is one of the reasons my best friend gets to hold her daughter in her arms,\u201d Ash wrote. \u201cShe is the definition of a nurse who provides extraordinary, patient-centered care \u2014 that day, she truly made a difference.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In her daily role, Madcke monitors the vitals of both mother and baby, administers pain management, provides emotional support and assists with delivery. She is also trained to identify and respond to complications during labor \u2014 the very skills that earned her this recognition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Madcke\u2019s recognition reflects the compassionate, expert care that defines JRMC\u2019s Family BirthPlace. The unit is dedicated to supporting mothers and families through every stage of labor and delivery, offering both medical expertise and emotional reassurance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
