\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – Bitterly cold weather continues to blanket the Dakotas as the workweek begins.<\/p>\n

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The National Weather Service has posted wind child advisories for both North Dakota and South Dakota, with the combination of cold temperatures and wind making it feel as cold as 40 degrees below zero in some areas. The weather isn’t expected to warm until later in the week.<\/p>\n

<\/em>Jamestown (CSi)\u00a0 \u2013\u00a0 The Jamestown Rural Fire Department spent several hours\u00a0containing a fire that\u00a0\u00a0destroyed a shop building in rural Jamestown,\u00a0at 3856 87th Ave. SE.\u00a0 (east and south of the Jamestown Country Club).\u00a0 \u00a0The fire call came at approximately 10:20 p.m. Friday, and 18 firefighters with eight trucks responded.<\/p>\n

\n

Rural Fire Chief Rick Woehl said when the units arrived, the south end of the shop\u00a0was involved in flames, coming\u00a0through the roof.\u00a0 All three structures were in really close proximity to each other there. Numerous propane tanks were inside the burning building.\u00a0 Firefighters\u00a0 removed them before the fire reached them.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Some acetylene tanks burned with the structure.<\/p>\n

Below zero temperatures and wind chills hampered fire fighting efforts, as \u00a0the firefighters used portable propane torches on frozen hose couplings.<\/p>\n

The Stutsman County Sheriff\u2019s Office\u00a0 assisted with a truck that was having mechanical problems.\u00a0 The Buffalo Valley \u00a0Red Cross volunteers\u00a0provided warm food and coffee.<\/p>\n

The cause of the fire is believed to be from a\u00a0 wood-burning stove.\u00a0\u00a0 Fire fighters were on the scene until\u00a03:30 Saturday morning.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown Salvation Army has reached just 37 percent of its $147,000 goal.<\/p>\n

That means, currently needed to raise is $87,000 by the end of the year.<\/p>\n

Lt. Mitch Brecto says not enough individuals are staffing the kettles at various Jamestown locations.<\/p>\n

Brecto says however that he is pleased that service clubs and some community and business groups continue to volunteer, such as the Kiwanis, Rotary and Lions Clubs.<\/p>\n

The Anne Carlsen Center and Alpha Opportunities are also helping out.<\/p>\n

The kettle campaign ends at 4-p.m., on December 24th.<\/sup><\/p>\n

The Angel Tree has 247 children have been signed up, down from 270 in 2012.<\/p>\n

Donations for the Angel Tree program are due byDecember 15.<\/p>\n

Needs include board games and stocking stuffers.<\/p>\n

The Angel Tree distribution will take place Dec. 17 and 18 at the Salvation Army on First Avenue North.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) The Bank Forward Foundation\u2019s mission is to support children in the community, experiencing a life-threatening health crisis by providing financial assistance to eliminate financial obstacles in order to radically transform the financial future of the children and their families.<\/p>\n

The Forward Foundation is a non-profit.<\/p>\n

On Friday\u2019s (Dec 6, 2013) Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2 Kim Diede with Bank Forward and Tax Forward in Jamestown said the foundation\u2019s goal is to make an impact, not just helping with medical bills but wiping them out completely.<\/p>\n

The fundraiser for the Forward Foundation is an online auction.<\/p>\n

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The\u00a0 Montana-Dakota Utilities system outage affected towns including Watford City, Arnegard and Alexander on Friday night and early Saturday morning.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 MDU spokesman Mark Hanson says the problem originated at a Watford City substation, where a piece of equipment failed in the cold.

\u00a0GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) – A tuberculosis outbreak in Grand Forks appears to be waning, and health officials hope patients will be done with treatment in the spring. There were 27 confirmed cases of TB in the city in the past 13 months. Grand Forks Public Health program manager Terri Keehr tells the Grand Forks Herald that 11 patients are still in treatment.<\/p>\n

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – A court hearing for a white supremacist who allegedly terrorized residents of a small North Dakota town he’s trying to turn into an Aryan enclave has been rescheduled.<\/p>\n

Court documents show that Craig Cobb’s preliminary hearing set for Monday has been rescheduled to Jan. 13 because his court-appointed public defender has withdrawn from the case.<\/p>\n

It is the third time an appointed public defender has asked to withdraw. A new attorney must now be appointed for Cobb.<\/p>\n

Cobb is at the state hospital in Jamestown, where he was taken late last month after starving himself in jail in what he said was an effort to seek spiritual enlightenment.<\/p>\n

The 62-year-old Cobb and another man are accused of terrorizing residents of Leith with guns Nov. 16.<\/p>\n

MANDAN, N.D. (AP) – Two motorcycle clubs hope to begin construction next summer on a memorial at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery to prisoners of war and soldiers missing in action.<\/p>\n

The Vietnam Vets Legacy Vets Motorcycle Club and the Second Brigade Motorcycle Club have raised more than $140,000 toward the $200,000 cost. The clubs hope the public can help with the remaining money so they can begin construction after Memorial Day.<\/p>\n

Planning for the North Dakota POW-MIA Memorial has been ongoing for about six years. It would honor soldiers from World War I, World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War and the Cold War.<\/p>\n

The memorial will consist of granite walls etched with scenes from each conflict and bearing the names 360 North Dakota soldiers.<\/p>\n

\u00a0MINOT, N.D. (AP) – Minot voters will go to the polls to decide whether to approve a $125 million bond election for new school construction. If the bond issue is approved tomorrow, it would increase school property taxes for the owner of a $200,000 home by about $460 per year. The $125 million school bond issue would raise money for several projects, including a new 550-student elementary school on 10 acres of land already owned by the district.<\/p>\n

\u00a0MANDAN, N.D. (AP) – Officials are unveiling the final draft of a master plan for Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park, after about a week’s delay.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The initial public meeting was set last Tuesday but the state Parks and Recreation Department rescheduled it to Monday due to bad weather. The meeting is set for 7 p.m. in the park’s Commissary building.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The plan incorporates input from a public meeting held in January and also the results of an online survey. Parks and Rec officials worked with an architect for nearly a year to develop it.

LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) – Craig Bohl is promising Wyoming football fans a great ride in the years ahead after being hired as head coach of the Cowboys on Sunday.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Bohl comes to Wyoming after 11 years at North Dakota State where he has won two Football Championship Subdivision titles and is in the process of seeking a third.

\u00a0BALTIMORE (AP) – Joe Flacco threw a 9-yard touchdown pass to rookie Marlon Brown with 4 seconds left, capping a flurry of scores on an icy field and giving the Baltimore Ravens a 29-26 victory over the Minnesota Vikings yesterday. Minnesota (3-9-1) also lost Peterson in the second quarter with an ankle injury and were officially eliminated from playoff contention.<\/p>\n

\u00a0Peterson is expected to undergo an MRI today.<\/p>\n

His return is questionable. Peterson, the 2012 NFL MVP, began the day as the NFL rushing leader with 1,208 yards.<\/p>\n

Green Bay ended a five-game winless slide as Matt Flynn threw for 258 yards and the Packers’ defense forced a key fourth-quarter turnover in a 22-21 win over the Falcons.<\/p>\n

Green Bay is now 6-6-1 and within a half-game of the NFC North lead. The Falcons drop to 3-10.<\/p>\n

Gov. Pat Quinn’s office says Monday that he’s declared it “Mike Ditka Day” in honor of the former Chicago Bears player and football coach whose jersey is being retired.<\/p>\n

The Hall of Famer’s No. 89 is being retired during a halftime ceremony Monday night when the Bears host the Dallas Cowboys.<\/p>\n

Dikta is the 14th Bear to have his number retired by the team.<\/p>\n

In a statement, Quinn calls Ditka “the best tight end of all time.” And he says “Da Coach” “molded and guided arguably the best football team,” referring to the 1985 Super Bowl champs.<\/p>\n

Ditka was drafted by the Bears in 1961 and played for the team through 1966. He returned to coach from 1982 until 1992.<\/p>\n
