(AP) &#8211; North Dakota&#8217;s Public Service Commission has approved a 3.9 percent rate increase for natural gas used by customers of Montana-Dakota Utilities Co.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The three-member commission unanimously approved an order Monday that allows MDU to bring in $4.2 million of additional revenue each year.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Bismarck-based utility says it has made about $100 million in investments to its natural gas infrastructure since 2004 and the increase is needed to help recover the costs.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The utility has about 99,000 North Dakota customers.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The PSC is slated to set the rates on customers&#8217; natural gas bills next month to reflect the increase. MDU has proposed an increase of $2.72 monthly on a typical residential customer&#8217;s natural gas bill.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 MDU says its last natural gas rate increase was in 2004.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D.
