(AP) &#8211; The North Dakota State Historical Society has decided to buy Lawrence Welk&#8217;s boyhood home in the south central town of Strasburg.<\/p>\n<p>The agency&#8217;s board voted 6-5 on Friday to move forward with purchasing the legendary band leader&#8217;s birthplace.<\/p>\n<p>The society will buy the property from Welk&#8217;s nieces. The price is still to be negotiated.<\/p>\n<p>The Legislature last year included $100,000 in the Historical Society&#8217;s two-year budget for the purchase but lawmakers stipulated that repairs must be made first.
