Daniel Artis, 67, of Jamestown, ND, passed away Thursday, January 16, 2014 at his home after a short battle with cancer. Daniel James Artis was born on February 15, 1946, in Valley City, ND, the son of James and Rose (Blumler) Artis. He grew up on the family farm in the Sanborn\/Valley City, ND area. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1964 and proudly served two tours of duty in Vietnam. Dan was discharged in 1968 and continued his service in the Air National Guard (Happy Hooligans) from 1970 until his retirement on April 3, 1994. On March 2, 1970, Daniel and Nicolette MAchow were married in Aberdeen, SD. He began working with the US Postal Service in 1969 in Jamestown and retired in 2007. Daniel could be found \u201cputtering\u201d in his shop and was always ready with a helping hand. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and friends. He was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Men of Trinity. Daniel is survived by his wife, Nikki; sons, Matthew (Heidi) Artis and Joshua (Nicole) Artis; grandchildren, Spencer, Chloe, Rylan, Olivia, and Jocelyn; sisters, Linda (Eugene) Kramer, Mora, MN, Elizabeth (Buck) Trader; and brothers, Patrick Artis, Gallop, NM and William Artis, Sanborn. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and brother, Harvey \u201cJoe\u201d.<\/p>\n
Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Jamestown, with Rev. Kristina Weber officiating. Visitation: 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday, January 20, 2014 at Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown.
