\"Jangula1\"<\/a>JAMESTOWN (CSi) \u00a0At a ceremony in Jamestown today, Senator John Hoeven honored the
\nmilitary service of Korean War Veteran John Jangula and presented him with the
\nmilitary awards he earned while serving in the U.S. Army. Jangula was never
\npresented his medals, and his family contacted Senator Hoeven’s office to request
\nhelp recovering the medals.\"Jangula2\"<\/a><\/p>\n

John was born in Zeeland, North Dakota to Jacob and Eva Jangula. He grew up in
\nEdgeley with six brothers and six sisters. John joined the National Guard at age 17
\nand went to Camp Rucker, Alabama in 1951. In March 1952, Sergeant Jangula was
\ndeployed to Korea, where he served as a mortar transportation foreman. He was
\ndischarged December 4, 1952 at Fort Lewis, Washington.<\/p>\n

Upon returning to North Dakota, John farmed and then worked as the maintenance man
\nat the school in Edgeley until his retirement in 1981. He is the father of eight
\nchildren. He and his wife, Grace, currently reside in Napoleon, North Dakota.<\/p>\n

“Like so many North Dakotans, John chose to join the National Guard and serve our
\nstate and nation,” said Hoeven. “We appreciate his sacrifices serving in Korea and
\npay tribute to Sergeant Jangula today with the medals he earned in the service of
\nour nation.”<\/p>\n
