The course was held in Jamestown and Valley City for 9 weeks. The course pushes participants outside of their comfort zone, striving them to learn new principles for building relationships. The program teachings participants the 5 drivers to success.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Build greater self-confidence<\/li>\n<li>Strength people skills<\/li>\n<li>Enhance communication skills<\/li>\n<li>Develop leadership skills<\/li>\n<li>Reduce stress and improve our attitude<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&#8220;To have a friend, one must be friendly. We start by showing genuine interest and asking people about things that interest them. We focus on them as individuals, we ask: Who? What? When? Where? Why? and How? We become proficient at building relationships and seize the opportunity to know people better with understanding what is important to them, we build trust.&#8221; Dale Carnegie<\/p>\n<p>The course focuses on Dale Carnegie\u2019s Golden Book and the 30 principles for building relationships which are grouped in 3 categories.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Become a friendlier person that includes principles like: don\u2019t criticize, condemn or complain; remember that a person\u2019s name is to that person the sweetest and most important sound in any language.<\/li>\n<li>Win people to your way of thinking that includes principles like: the only way to get the best of an argument is to avoid it; show respect for the other person\u2019s opinion and never say &#8220;you\u2019re wrong&#8221;.<\/li>\n<li>Be a leader which includes principles like: let the other person save face; call attention to people\u2019s mistakes indirectly; always use encouragement with the slightest improvement.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Ms Brunner says, &#8220;The course is a really eye opener for a person, it really helps a person see how to best handle those difficult situations and helps you develop the skills to be an effective leader.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>DeAnn received two notable honors in the course. She was recognized for Outstanding Performance: which is given to the participant that demonstrates effective use of the principles of communication, human relations and leadership.
