{"id":46452,"date":"2014-05-24T16:00:39","date_gmt":"2014-05-24T21:00:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=46452"},"modified":"2014-06-17T10:13:43","modified_gmt":"2014-06-17T15:13:43","slug":"torrential-rain-flood-warning-roads-closed-washed-out","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=46452","title":{"rendered":"Some Roads Closed, Washed Out, Spiritwood Area"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/floodmap2014.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-46474\" alt=\"floodmap2014\" src=\"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/floodmap2014-300x201.png\" width=\"300\" height=\"201\" srcset=\"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/floodmap2014-300x201.png 300w, http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/floodmap2014-260x175.png 260w, http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/floodmap2014.png 446w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Jamestown (CSi)\u00a0In the wake of Friday evening&#8217;s flooding caused by torrential rains,\u00a0motorists\u00a0driving on Stutsman County township and county roads east of Jamestown on Saurday are being urged to use caution as water likely remains on some roads.<\/p>\n<p>As of Saturday, not all damage reports were in, but, the area around Spiritwood was most affected, by the flooding.<\/p>\n<p>Stutsman County Sheiff&#8221;s Sgt Liz \u00a0Kapp says, motorists should avoid driving over any roads covered with water, as it&#8217;s impossible to tell how deep the water is or whether the road beneath it has been washed out or damaged.<\/p>\n<p>Motorists driving at night should be particularly cautious.<\/p>\n<p>She adds,&#8221;Driving at night,\u00a0 reduce the speed right now, and just be attentive that when driving on county roads (or) township roads, that there could be water over the roadways that has not been reported yet.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Previously&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Torrential rains Friday evening caused many rural\u00a0 roads in\u00a0eastern Stutsman County to be closed or washed out.Friday night the Stutsman County Sheriff&#8217;s Office\u00a0 issued a travel advisory for eastern Stutsman County due to heavy rains and roads under water.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities are advising motorists\u00a0to use caution when traveling on county and township roads.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Roads closed,\u00a0 as of Friday evening include:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>27th Street Southeast, from 91st Ave. to the east 1.25 miles (approximately 9225 27th St. SE).<\/p>\n<p>91st Avenue Southeast, from 30th St. SE to 28th St. SE.<\/p>\n<p>30th Street Southeast, from 89th Ave. SE to 91st Ave. SE<\/p>\n<p>33rd Street Southeast, from 89th Ave. SE to Spiritwood (Stutsman County Road 40)<\/p>\n<p>Public reports indicate that the flooding is bounded by Spiritwood Lake to the north, I-94 to the south, and Jamestown to the west, and the Barnes County line to the east.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/HailMay2014.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-46430\" alt=\"HailMay2014\" src=\"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/HailMay2014-300x201.png\" width=\"300\" height=\"201\" \/><\/a>Late Friday afternoon the initial thunderstorm caused large hail to fall north of Jamestown, and through Friday evening subsequent thunderstorms produced pea to marble size hail in Jamestown.<\/p>\n<p>After the storms, the National Weather Service reported four inches of rain near Spiritwood, and around three inches in Jamestown, a record amount for May 23rd.<\/p>\n<p>A Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until midnight, Friday.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jamestown (CSi)\u00a0In the wake of Friday evening&#8217;s flooding caused by torrential rains,\u00a0motorists\u00a0driving on Stutsman County township and county roads east of Jamestown on Saurday are being urged to use caution as water likely remains on some roads.
