(AP) \u2013 A county prosecutor in southeastern North<br \/>\nDakota is charging many drunken driving offenders with reckless<br \/>\ndriving, instead of driving under the influence.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Sargent County State\u2019s Attorney Lyle Bopp says he wants to give<br \/>\npeople a second chance.<\/p>\n<p>He says he doesn\u2019t give the same break to repeat offenders and people who have a blood-alcohol level of more than 0.15 percent.<\/p>\n<p>The legal limit for DUI in North Dakota is 0.08 percent.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Bopp says there isn\u2019t much public transportation in Sargent<br \/>\nCounty, and \u201cpeople need to get to work.\u201d<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The penalties for drunken driving and reckless driving are about the<br \/>\nsame. But a reckless driving charge has less effect on insurance<br \/>\nrates.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A Highway Patrol spokesman says the agency isn\u2019t happy about the<br \/>\npractice.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0FORMAN, N.D.
