Last month, Hoeven hosted United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Under Secretary for Farm and Foreign Agricultural Services Michael Scuse at a farm bill roundtable with state and local officials and agriculture groups. The senator invited Scuse to North Dakota to meet with North Dakota farmers and ranchers in order to help keep them included in the farm bill implementation process and informed about farm bill resources, like a new safety net decision aid tool developed by North Dakota State University (NDSU).<\/p>\n<p>The Golden Triangle Award is based on NFU\u2019s symbol \u2013 a triangle with \u201clegislation\u201d and \u201ccooperation\u201d forming the sides and \u201ceducation\u201d the base. The Golden Triangle Awards have been presented to legislators since 1988. This is the third time Hoeven has received the Golden Triangle award.<\/p>\n<p>Senator Hoeven served on the Senate-House Conference Committee that negotiated the final version of the new five-year farm bill and is a member of the U.S. Senate Agriculture and Appropriations Committees<\/p>\n<p>U.S. Senator Heidi Heitkamp\u00a0also received the Golden Triangle award from the North Dakota Farmers Union for her extensive work and leadership on issues affecting family farmers and rural communities throughout North Dakota.<\/p>\n<p>In a meeting\u00a0 with the organization, Heitkamp discussed a number of pressing issues that have impacts on farmers, ranchers, and their families all across the state. Heitkamp spoke about the extensive agriculture shipment delays that have been plaguing North Dakota\u2019s farmers and what she\u2019s doing to help end the backlog.
