Bill (William) Henry Meier, 81, Mesa, Arizona was called home on Tuesday November 18, 2014 due to complications with congestive heart failure. Ardyce, Lora and Amy were at his side as he peacefully slipped away.<\/p>\n
AdvertisementBill was born June 11, 1933 in Sykeston, ND, the son of David and Rose (Schaack) Meier. He attended school at Grace City, ND. Bill married Ardyce Topp on June 11, 1955.<\/p>\n
The Meiers farmed in the Grace City area. After leaving the farm, Bill owned the Hillview Bar and Caf, Jamestown, ND. He served as Stutsman County Commissioner 1976-1984, residing as Chairman of the Board for six years. He retired to Rush Lake, MN and later to Mesa, AZ.<\/p>\n
He helped to start the Grace Lutheran Church of Grace City and later transferred to Trinity Lutheran Church in Jamestown, ND.<\/p>\n
Bill enjoyed many sports as a participant and as a fan. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman. His lifetime interest in tilling the soil continued in retirement as he tended to the beautiful cacti in his yard.<\/p>\n
Bill is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ardyce, Mesa, AZ. Daughters Lora (Brian) Stousland, Burnsville, MN and Amy Sannes, Moorhead, MN. Four grandchildren, Tyler Stousland and Lisa Stousland both of Burnsville, MN, Blake Meier, Los Angeles, CA and Toby Sannes, Moorhead, MN; brother, John (Dee) Meier and sister Mary (Royce) Topp and many nieces and nephews.<\/p>\n
Bill was preceded in death by his son, Joe, Odessa, TX, his parents, and sister Doris and her husband Norbert Hoffmann, Litchville, MN.<\/p>\n
