Roads that<br \/>\nturned wet during the day are refreezing and becoming icy as temperatures drop<br \/>\ntonight.\u00a0 Other areas where roads turned wet during the day may also become icy as<br \/>\ntemperatures fall through the night.\u00a0 Motorists should be alert to changing road<br \/>\nconditions and use caution.<\/p>\n<p>Other cities and surrounding areas remaining in the Travel Alert include<strong> Jamestown,<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Valley City<\/strong>, Ellendale, Center, Linton, Napoleon, Underwood, McClusky, Steele,<br \/>\nBottineau, Velva, Harvey, Kenmare, Minot, and Garrison.\u00a0 A Travel Alert means<br \/>\nconditions are such that motorists can still travel in these areas, but should be<br \/>\nadvised of rapidly changing condition as a band of snow moves east through the<br \/>\nstate. Motorists are encouraged to reduce speeds and drive according to the<br \/>\nconditions.<\/p>\n<p>No Travel Kidder County<\/p>\n<p>All travelers are encouraged to monitor road conditions as weather conditions occur<br \/>\nand use caution while traveling. For road information, call 511 from any type of<br \/>\nphone or go to the website: www.dot.nd.gov&lt;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.dot.nd.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/www.dot.nd.gov<\/a>&gt;. NDDOT releases<br \/>\ninformation to inform the public about travel conditions throughout the state.<\/p>\n<p>The three categories are as follows:<\/p>\n<p>1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 TRAVEL ALERT &#8211; Motorists can still travel but may encounter areas of<br \/>\nchallenging winter weather driving conditions on roadways. Motorists should allow<br \/>\nextra time to reach their destination and be alert to conditions that may make<br \/>\ntravel difficult, change rapidly, or cause travel delays. A TRAVEL ALERT has the<br \/>\npotential to change to a NO TRAVEL ADVISED if conditions deteriorate.<\/p>\n<p>2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 NO TRAVEL ADVISED &#8211; Motorists should not travel due to hazardous conditions<br \/>\nwhich may make it unsafe to travel. Snowplows may be pulled from the roads during<br \/>\nsevere conditions. Motorists should take NO TRAVEL ADVISED seriously as those<br \/>\nmotorists who choose to travel at their own risk may become stranded and emergency<br \/>\nresponders may not be able to reach them safely. A NO TRAVEL ADVISED has the<br \/>\npotential to change to a ROAD CLOSED OR BLOCKED if conditions deteriorate.<\/p>\n<p>3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 ROAD CLOSED OR BLOCKED &#8211; Motorists are not allowed to travel on a closed road<br \/>\ndue to life threatening conditions. The road may be impassible or blocked. Motorists<br \/>\nwho drive past a road closure device may be fined up to $250.<\/p>\n<p>Please be advised that road condition information on 511 and the travel map is<br \/>\nupdated daily from 5 a.m. until 9 p.m. CDT. The road report is based upon the<br \/>\ninformation available to the NDDOT at the time of preparation and is provided solely<br \/>\nas a public service.
