(AP) &#8211; North Dakota&#8217;s Insurance Department has levied a $60,000 fine against the state&#8217;s largest health insurer for violating state law.<\/p>\n<p>Noridian Mutual Insurance Co. does business as Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota. Insurance Commissioner Adam Hamm says a state examination uncovered several violations and &#8220;deficiencies&#8221; in the way the company handles some claims and underwriting practices.<\/p>\n<p>The Insurance Department is recommending numerous changes to improve how the company does business, markets insurance and interacts with state officials.<\/p>\n<p>Noridian President and CEO Tim Huckle signed a consent order issued by the Insurance Department, waiving the company&#8217;s right to a hearing and an appeal.<\/p>\n<p>Blue Cross Blue Shield provides more than half a million people with health care coverage.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>BISMARCK, N.D.
