(Jan. 21, 2015)\u00a0 <span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\">American motorists will see something happen this week that has not occurred <\/span><\/span>since March 25, 2009: The U.S. average price of gasoline will slip below $2 per gallon.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">\u201cThe current trend has the national average today at <span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\">$2.05<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\">, which maintains the consistent rate of decline we\u2019ve <\/span><\/span>monitored for the past several months,\u201d said Patrick DeHaan, senior petroleum analyst with GasBuddy. \u201cWhen you couple that with the fuel fundamentals reported by the Energy Information Administration (EIA), specifically, the inventory build in recent weeks, it\u2019s a certainty that we\u2019ll see the national avera <span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\">ge price of gas <\/span><\/span>move below $2.00\u2026probably within the next <span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\">48 to 72 <\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\">hours,\u201d he added. \u201cWe could see it fall to $1.95 or even <\/span><\/span>lower in the weeks ahead.\u201d<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">The current average price of gasoline is now $1.24 less than the average price Americans paid one year ago.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">And as a result, American motorists in 2015 are projected to save $750, on average, versus what they spent last year.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\">Motorists in Michigan are seeing the greatest savings nationwide; on average they\u2019re paying $1.<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\">36 less <\/span><\/span>today than they paid one year ago.\u201c<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\">26 states now have average prices below $2 per gallon and more than 50% of the gas stations in the U.S. are <\/span><\/span>already below $2 per gallon,\u201d added Gregg Laskoski, another senior petroleum analyst with GasBuddy. \u201c<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\">Right <\/span><\/span>now, there are more stations reporting prices under $2.00 (57.1%), than there are reporting prices above $2.25 (20.5%).<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">While plummeting gas prices are giving all of us a little extra cash each week, for long-term planning GasBuddy recommends that consumers interested in what\u2019s <span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\">ahead for the year visit the 2015 Fuel Price<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">Forecast: <a title=\"Gas Buddy Forecast\" href=\"http:\/\/media.gasbuddy.com\/content\/docs\/2015forecast.pdf\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;
