The national theme for 2015 is \u201830 Years Strong\u2019. Locally the theme is &#8220;More Birthday\u2019s.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The American Cancer Society is seeking businesses, organizations, and families to get involved in the Relay for Life movement by displaying purple ribbons and other decorations from May 1, 2015 \u2013 June 5, 2015.<\/p>\n<p>She noted that the community can also help &#8220;Paint Our Town Purple&#8221; by doing other activities, including putting up purple-themed displays in storefronts, swapping out white light bulbs for purples ones, or selecting a day for everyone to wear purple at work or school.<\/p>\n<p>Also, at the pre-celebration event on May 1<sup>st<\/sup>, is the opportunity to purchase purple tablecloths to decorate trees with, purple headbands as well as purple wristbands that say: \u201930 Years Strong\u2019 as well as some other items.<\/p>\n<p>The proceeds raised will go to the 2015 Stutsman County Relay for Life event. There will be four certificates given out the night of the Relay for Life event on June 5<sup>th<\/sup>: Best Use of Purple, Most Original Purple Theme, Most Purple, and Best Purple Window Display.<\/p>\n<p>Also on our show, Stutsman County Relay for Life Co-Chair, Pam Phillips said this year\u2019s Stutsman County Relay for Life will be a 12 hour event, on <strong>June 5<sup>th<\/sup>, 2015<\/strong>, starting at 2-p.m., until 2-a.m., on June 6<sup>th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>The Opening Ceremonies will be at 6-p.m.<\/p>\n<p>She pointed out that The Miss Relay Contest will return this year, with men dressed in costumes to win the contest, as votes cast will require a donation to the relay.<\/p>\n<p>Other upcoming events include the Survivors Social set for May 17, 2015 from 3-5-p.m., at St. Paul\u2019s United Methodist Church in Jamestown.<\/p>\n<p>The relays Co-Chairs, Pam Phillips and Doreen Brophy have more information.
