{"id":68946,"date":"2015-04-01T10:09:50","date_gmt":"2015-04-01T15:09:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=68946"},"modified":"2015-04-01T10:09:50","modified_gmt":"2015-04-01T15:09:50","slug":"veterans-alert-for-phone-scammer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=68946","title":{"rendered":"Veterans alert for phone scammer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/VAlogo1.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-20335\" alt=\"VAlogo1\" src=\"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/VAlogo1.gif\" width=\"180\" height=\"30\" \/><\/a>Jamestown (CSi) Veterans Administration officials want to warn veterans about a new nationwide phone scam.<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday\u2019s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, Stutsman County Veterans Affairs, Officer, Warren Tobin said, in the scam the caller will claim to be from the V.A. and that the veteran\u2019s doctor wants to change their medications.<\/p>\n<p>The scammer will then ask for personal information, such as Medicare details and social security numbers.<\/p>\n<p>The V.A.\u2019s Public Affairs Officer, Bard Nelson says, that\u2019s &#8220;proof positive, the caller is a scammer.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He adds the V.A. does not ask for that information.<\/p>\n<p>Anyone receiving that type of call, they should call their nearest medical center, or clinic, and let them know.<\/p>\n<p>Nelson advises veterans that they should never give out personal information over the phone, to anyone, and always ask the caller for identification and a callback number to ensure the call is legitimate.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jamestown (CSi) Veterans Administration officials want to warn veterans about a new nationwide phone scam.
