The billboards will communicate the important message of calling the North Dakota One-Call 800 number or 811 at least 48 hours prior to the commencement of any type of excavation.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ndonecall.com\/\">www.ndonecall.com<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The PHMSA awards One Call Grants to State pipeline safety programs under 49 U.S.C. Chapter 61, &#8220;One Call Notification Programs.&#8221; The grants were authorized in 1995 in response to several serious accidents caused by excavation damage to underground facilities. Projects supported by One Call Grants are prioritized and aligned with 49 U.S.C. 6106(a) goals for improving state damage prevention programs. Goals of the program are to improve: the overall quality and effectiveness of one-call notification systems in the State; communications systems linking one-call notification systems; location capabilities, including training personnel and developing and using location technology; record retention and recording capabilities for one-call notification systems; public information and education; participation in one-call notification systems; and compliance and enforcement under the State one-call notification program.
