Jamestown, ND\u00a0 (KCSi-T.V. News Jun 28, 2012)\u00a0 —\u00a0 The National Weather Service has issued its updated flood forecast.
\nAs of June 28, 2012, the risk of flooding in the James River basin tends to be normal, to slightly below normal, for this time of year, with the base flow, presently normal.
\nHighlights of the report include the fact that the area is in \u201cthunderstorm season,\u201d which means that during storms, any heavy rain can produce flash flooding on small streams, and typically, dry-drainages.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u00a0The overall flood risk assessment, does, not, include the risks associated with any flash flooding that may occur.
\nThe report says as of June 28, 2012 no locations on the James River in North were above flood stage, and reservoir levels are within normal operating range, for this time of year.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u00a0High releases from the dams are a remote possibility, and not anticipated over the next 90-days.
\n\u00a0
\nThe climate outlooks from the Climate Prediction Center, place nearly all of North Dakota in the equal chance category of experiencing above normal, normal, or below normal temperatures and precipitation for the one month outlook of July 2012, and again for the July, August and September period.<\/p>\n
Rivers, streams and soil moisture are in the normal range.
\n\u00a0At this time the probability of any major flooding on the James River at LaMoure and Grace City (the only locations listed in the report) is between 3% and 5%.<\/p>\n
