(AP) &#8211; North Dakota has set an oil production<br \/>\nrecord for the fifth consecutive year.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The state Department of Mineral Resources said Tuesday that<br \/>\ncrude production through September totaled more than 173.9 million<br \/>\nbarrels. That&#8217;s up from the record 152.9 million barrels set last<br \/>\nyear.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Agency spokeswoman Alison Ritter says the state is on pace to<br \/>\nsurpass 200 million barrels in 2012.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 North Dakota Petroleum Council President Ron Ness called the<br \/>\nstate&#8217;s oil output &#8220;remarkable.&#8221; He says crude from western North<br \/>\nDakota&#8217;s oil patch is fueling refineries across the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 North Dakota is the nation&#8217;s No. 2 oil producer, behind Texas.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The U.S. Department of Energy says North Dakota accounts for<br \/>\nabout 12 percent of total U.S. crude production.
