{"id":73142,"date":"2015-05-21T16:47:33","date_gmt":"2015-05-21T21:47:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=73142"},"modified":"2015-05-21T20:16:27","modified_gmt":"2015-05-22T01:16:27","slug":"city-council-to-advertise-for-landfill-cell-construction","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=73142","title":{"rendered":"Council to advertise for landfill cell construction"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/citychamberinside.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-1375\" alt=\"cityhallJinside\" src=\"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/citychamberinside-300x205.png\" width=\"300\" height=\"205\" srcset=\"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/citychamberinside-300x205.png 300w, http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/citychamberinside-255x175.png 255w, http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/citychamberinside.png 445w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown City Council met in Special Session Thursday at City Hall.\u00a0 All members were present.<\/p>\n<p>The purpose of the meeting was to advertise for bids for construction of the sanitary landfill cell.<\/p>\n<p>Darrell Hournbuckle fromInterstate Engineering said this is the remaining piece of the present landfill.<\/p>\n<p>The Council voted unanimously to approve advertising.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Following the meeting, the City Council\u2019s Police Committee and Public Works and Fire Committee and Finance and Legal Committees met at City Hall.<\/p>\n<p>With the Police Committee:<\/p>\n<p>Discussion concerned the exempt employee status of the Major, Captain and Lieutenants in the Police Department.<\/p>\n<p>Chief Edinger said those officers are a part of other administrative positions, now, and should not be exempt, and then would qualify for overtime hours.<\/p>\n<p>Mayor Andersen suggested the Chief submit job descriptions to the city.<\/p>\n<p>Council Member Buchanan moved to re-classify those officers, as non-exempt employees.<\/p>\n<p>City Administrator, Jeff Fuchs said, the city will have to amend the Civil Service Ordinance, which requires a First and Second Reading of the Ordinance.<\/p>\n<p>The committee recommends approval including submitting the job description.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Public Works<\/p>\n<p>Tourism Director Searle Swelund made a comment concerning the hole in the street near Frontier Village, abutting the wall near the amphitheater, and where the progress was in rectifying the problem.\u00a0 The city previously looked at hiring \u00a0a company for soil testing, and the city will now obtain quotes.\u00a0 The committee made no formal recommendations, however City Engineer Reed Schwartzkopf will move forward to obtain quotes.<\/p>\n<p>The committee discussed a RRV&amp;W train track washout at a bend in the track near the James River.\u00a0 The committee recommends the city and railroad and landowner work together to reach a solution to repairs.<\/p>\n<p>Finance &amp; Legal Committe<b>e<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The committee recommends approving a Resolution relating to a project under the Municipal Industrial Development Act giving preliminary approval, subject to a public hearing, for the City of Jamestown to issue University Facilities Revenue Bonds not to exceed $2,000,000.00 on behalf of the University of Jamestown, for the purpose of financing the acquisition of a building located at 4190 26<span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"font-size: xx-small;\">th <\/span><\/span><span>Avenue South, in Fargo, for the University\u2019s physical therapy program.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The committee recommends approving the application from David and Cheryl Remillong for a Class C on\/off sale alcoholic beverage license for DCR Investments, dba The Office Bar &amp; Lounge.<\/p>\n<p>The meetings were shown live on CSi 67 followed by replays.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown City Council met in Special Session Thursday at City Hall.\u00a0 All members were present.
