{"id":73606,"date":"2015-05-28T14:26:38","date_gmt":"2015-05-28T19:26:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=73606"},"modified":"2015-05-28T14:26:38","modified_gmt":"2015-05-28T19:26:38","slug":"merricourt-wind-farm-gets-psc-approval","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=73606","title":{"rendered":"Merricourt wind farm gets PSC approval"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/geronimowindturbine.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-71551\" alt=\"geronimowindturbine\" src=\"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/geronimowindturbine-300x199.png\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" srcset=\"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/geronimowindturbine-300x199.png 300w, http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/geronimowindturbine-263x175.png 263w, http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/geronimowindturbine.png 445w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Bismarck (CSi) The North Dakota Public Service Commission has approved the proposed 150-megawatt wind farm in McIntosh and Dickey counties,on a split vote.<\/p>\n<p>The ruling Wednesday was based on the information from an earlier hearing.<\/p>\n<p>The plan is amended to use 75 2-megawatt turbines rather than 100 1.5-megawatt turbines that were included in the initial plan.<\/p>\n<p>The Merricourt Wind Farm is being developed by San Diego-based EDF Renewable Energy, formerly known as enXco, which had received a site permit from the PSC in 2011 but had not constructed the wind farm.<\/p>\n<p>Commissioners Brian Kalk and Julie Fedorchak voted in favor of the amended order approving the siting plan while Commissioner Randy Christmann opposed the certification.<\/p>\n<p>EDF, received PSC approval of the project in 2011, when Xcel Energy had contracted to purchase the power.<\/p>\n<p>Xcel canceled the contract and was sued by EDF.
