\u00a0Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 Telephone\u00a0 customers are being\u00a0advised, by a CenturyLink, that fiber optic cable was cut Wednesday afternoon, about 4 1\/2 miles south of Jamestown.<\/p>\n

\u00a0Stutsman County assistant emergency manager, Sarah Van De Velde, says the cut in the fiber optic cable has not affected 911 service in Stutsman County.<\/p>\n

An email notice from\u00a0 Dickey County Emergency Manager, Charlie Russell,states that911 service is down in parts of Dickey and LaMoure counties.<\/p>\n

Dakota Central Telecommunications announced the cut has affected some long distance and local calls made between its customers and CenturtLink customers.<\/p>\n

No timeline was given as to when phone service would be restored.<\/p>\n

Valley\u00a0 City\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 A portion of Barnes County Highway 4 will be closed for a culvert replacement on Thursday, July 16, 2015, approximately\u00a0two miles East of Wimbledon and\u00a0eight miles west of Dazey.<\/p>\n

The closure is expected to\u00a0last for one day.<\/p>\n

Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) JSDC CEO Connie Ova says a zone change request will be made, concerning the development of crews camps in Spiritwood, in the area of the Energy Park.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday\u2019s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, Connie said the crew camp is in conjunction with project work, including the CHS nitrogen Fertilizer plant.<\/p>\n

She pointed out the zone change would be from agricultural to industrial, and need approval from the township.<\/p>\n

She said the CHS preliminary construction work continues, and the formal groundbreaking and start of construction may be in mid August this year.<\/p>\n

She says water supply options are moving forward, and enough water should be available from sources at the Spiritwood Energy Park from partners there, for the plant to be operational.<\/p>\n

Additional water sources will be needed as the Energy Park is further developed for industrial use.<\/p>\n

She added that a business is looking at purchasing three of the four lots available at the I-94 Industrial Park.<\/p>\n

The (JSDC) Board of Directors has approved a revised 2016 budget that includes a 3.8 percent overall increase in expenditures. The budget includes a 3 percent raise for JSDC employees.<\/p>\n

The increase boots the 2016 budget to $452,000 from the 2015 budget of $436,000.<\/p>\n

The JSDC Board had approved a 5 percent increase in wages and an overall 5 percent increase in spending.<\/p>\n

The original budget did not meet guidelines set by the Stutsman County Commission limiting increases to 3 percent.<\/p>\n

Valley City (CSi) The city of Valley City has accepted a bid of $65,000 from Marketplace Foods for a portion of the Rosebud Visitor Center parking lot.<\/p>\n

Robert Drake dropped out of the bidding process after offering $50,000 for the property.<\/p>\n

Marketplace Foods, is planning on building a liquor store, and a convenience store, gas station at the intersection of Main and Central Avenue.<\/p>\n

The Valley City Commission had approved selling the parcel, and will need to approve the bid proposal at the next City Commission Regular Meeting on July 21, 2015.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown City Council will be holding a public hearing in the Council Chambers, on MONDAY, AUGUST 3, 2015, at 5:00 P.M., at City Hall, 102 3rd Avenue SE, Jamestown, ND, to receive public input relative to the request from the James River Valley Library System for a “Certification of Significant Community Support”.<\/p>\n

The library is filing a Community Facilities Grant application, to USDA-Rural<\/p>\n

Development, in the amount of $41,259, for a new Book Mobile to replace the current eighteen year old vehicle. The grant would fund 15% of the cost with the other 85% coming from the library\u2019s book mobile fund and private donations. The application requests a “Certification of Significant Community Support” from affected local government bodies.<\/p>\n

\u00a0Carrington (CSi) The Wells County State\u2019s Attorney has released a statement, regarding allegations against Foster County Auditor Roger Schlotman and Foster County Board of Commissioners Chairman James P. Carr.<\/p>\n

After an investigation by the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation (ND BCI), on October 30th, ND BCI swore out a probable cause affidavit, search warrants and complaints regarding allegations against Foster County Auditor Roger Schlotman and Foster County Board of Commissioners Chairman James P. Carr.<\/p>\n

Foster County Auditor Roger Schlotman was arrested for the following in the Foster County Case: Three counts of misapplications of entrusted property, two Class C Felony\u2019s and one Class B Felony. Two counts of conspiracy to commit misapplication of entrusted property, a Class B Felony and a Class C Felony. Two counts of tampering with public records, two Class C Felony\u2019s. The tampering charges relate to tampering with Foster County Board of County Commissioner meeting minutes and the misapplication of funds relate to Foster County property and\/or funds.<\/p>\n

Foster County Board of Commissioners Chairman James P. Carr was arrested for the following in the Foster County Case: Two counts of conspiracy to commit misapplication of entrusted property, a Class B Felony and a Class C Felony. Two counts of tampering with public records, both Class A Misdemeanors.<\/p>\n

After being served with the criminal complaint, Foster County Auditor Roger Schlotman offered a letter of resignation as Foster County Auditor.<\/p>\n

On November 6th, Honorable Thomas E. Merrick, held a bail hearing for both Foster County Auditor Roger Schlotman and Foster County Board of Commissioners Chairman James P. Carr and both were released upon a personal recognizance bond. An initial appearance is scheduled for December 4th, 2013 at 9:30a.m. in the Foster County Courthouse in Carrington.<\/p>\n

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) – Police say a U.S. airman was acting alone when he fatally shot one worker and injured another at a North Dakota Wal-Mart store before killing himself, and that no one had any advance notice of his intentions.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Grand Forks police said Wednesday that they closed their investigation into the May shooting without forwarding the case to prosecutors for possible charges.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Twenty-one-year-old Marcell Willis was a senior airman stationed at Grand Forks Air Force Base. Police say he walked into the Wal-Mart store about 1 a.m. on May 26 and shot and killed 70-year-old overnight cashier Gregory Weiland. Willis then shot and wounded 47-year-old overnight grocery general manager Lisa Braun.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Willis then killed himself. His motive isn’t known.<\/p>\n

FARGO, N.D. (AP) – A miniature satellite that University of North Dakota students have been working on for nearly five years has been approved for launch by NASA, which ranked the project as the best of its kind in the nation for the last year.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The so-called CubeSat will be North Dakota’s first spacecraft to orbit the earth. The 2-pound device will catch a ride on a supply ship heading to the International Space Station sometime next spring.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 About 80 students, some of whom have graduated, worked regularly on the project, and about the same number contributed in a supporting role. It included help from students in several different departments, some of whom investigated licenses, regulations and legal issues.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 UND professor and principal investigator Ronald Marsh says the launch is both exciting and nerve-racking.<\/p>\n

FARGO, N.D. (AP) – Several North Dakota teachers are in Fargo this week for a workshop meant to improve the quality of education in science, technology, engineering and math.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The four-day seminar is part of a summer program sponsored by the National Math and Science Institute, which is referred to as NMSI (NIM’-zee).\u00a0 A second workshop is scheduled later this month in Bismarck.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Legislature in the last session set aside $1.25 million to support NMSI, which aims to help teachers prepare their students for more rigorous high school coursework.

President Barack Obama says he’s hoping the nuclear deal with Iran will encourage that country to “behave differently” and stop sponsoring terrorist actors in the Middle East. He also says the U.S. will try to get Iran to help end violent unrest in Syria and Yemen. But, Obama told reporters today, “We’re not betting on it.”

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 WASHINGTON (AP) – As the administration works to win support for the nuclear deal with Iran, President Barack Obama says it’s also “working every day” to try to free the four American citizens currently being held in Iranian jails. Obama says the U.S. did not include the status of the jailed Americans in the nuclear talks because it would have made it more difficult to walk away from a bad deal. He says he didn’t want to encourage Iran to use the prisoners for leverage.

They’re demonstrating against the austerity measures that are coming up for a vote Wednesday night. The actions would clear the way for a third bailout deal for Greece — but they’ve run into opposition, even from within the Greek prime minister’s party. Riot police have used pepper spray and tear gas to fight back youths in the crowd who were hurling Molotov cocktails and rocks at police.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 WASHINGTON (AP) – Congressional investigators say phony applicants who were signed up last year under President Barack Obama’s health care law got automatically re-enrolled for 2015 — and some were rewarded with even bigger taxpayer subsidies for their insurance. The nonpartisan Government Accountability Office says 11 counterfeit characters that its investigators created were automatically re-enrolled by HealthCare.gov. Six of them were later flagged and sent termination notices. But GAO said it got five of them reinstated, using more bogus information. The five even got their monthly subsidies bumped up.
