Heidi Heitkamp is recovering from hip replacement surgery.<\/p>\n<p>Heitkamp spokesman Jared Gilmour says the North Dakota Democrat had her right hip replaced on Monday in Bismarck. He says the surgery was &#8220;successful and she&#8217;s doing well.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Gilmour says Heitkamp &#8220;is already communicating with staff and emailing as she normally would.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Heitkamp is recovering in North Dakota and will be back in Washington, D.C. when the Senate&#8217;s summertime break is over.<\/p>\n<p>The 59-year-old Heitkamp survived breast cancer in the early 2000s.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>BISMARCK, N.D.
