{"id":80127,"date":"2015-08-25T08:01:23","date_gmt":"2015-08-25T13:01:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=80127"},"modified":"2015-08-25T09:49:32","modified_gmt":"2015-08-25T14:49:32","slug":"tourism-fva-to-meet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=80127","title":{"rendered":"Tourism, FVA to meet"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/Swedlund.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-10234\" alt=\"Swedlund\" src=\"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/Swedlund-300x202.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"202\" srcset=\"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/Swedlund-300x202.jpg 300w, http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/Swedlund-259x175.jpg 259w, http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/Swedlund.jpg 445w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Jamestown (CSi) Jamestown Tourism\u2019s Executive Board met Monday evening at the Holiday Inn Express in Jamestown to discuss to items table from Friday\u2019s Regular Meeting,\u00a0 and to set a date to meet with the Frontier Village board.<\/p>\n<p>At Friday\u2019s meeting, Tourism Executive Director Searle Swedlund said a meeting between tourism and the Frontier Village should address concerns expressed by the FVA board at their meeting on August 13<sup>th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>At Friday\u2019s meeting, Swedlund told the tourism board that he has concerns of whether to &#8220;invest&#8221; in the Frontier Village, with grant dollars that amounts to 35% of tourism\u2019s annual grant funding, adding that the &#8220;historical approach,&#8221; with the Frontier Village will no longer work.<\/p>\n<p>FVA uses grant money from Jamestown Tourism to fund and promote events such as Pioneer Days. Swedlund said his comments were meant to point out the consequences of not following funding guidelines.<br \/>\nAt Monday\u2019s meeting the Jamestown Tourism Board of Directors voted to ask to meet with the Frontier Village Association to discuss differences.\u00a0 Tourism Director, Searle Swedlund said, &#8220;My intention is for some of you to join me when we sit in a room and hear their concerns.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Swedlund said Jamestown Tourism had made a substantial investment in the Frontier Village and was fiscally responsible for seeing the money was spent properly.<\/p>\n<p>Frontier Village Association President, Charlie Tanata said his organization also wants to meet with the Tourism Board.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jamestown (CSi) Jamestown Tourism\u2019s Executive Board met Monday evening at the Holiday Inn Express in Jamestown to discuss to items table from Friday\u2019s Regular Meeting,\u00a0 and to set a date to meet with the Frontier Village board.
