\u00a0SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) – A 16-year-old student has been charged with attempted murder in the shooting of a South Dakota high school principal, who was lightly wounded in the arm.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Lincoln County State’s Attorney Tom Wollman says charges were filed Thursday against Mason Buhl as an adult. They are one count each of first-degree attempted murder and commission of a felony while armed with a firearm.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Buhl is accused of shooting Harrisburg High School Principal Kevin Lein during school hours Wednesday. Buhl was subdued by other school officials and no one else was hurt.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Buhl’s father, Rodney Buhl, told The Associated Press on Wednesday that he doesn’t know what led his son to the shooting. He says the teen has been very quiet over the past year and thinks he’s “just mad at everybody.”<\/p>\n

According to police, Assistant Principal Ryan Rollinger tackled the student and held him down with help of the school’s athletic director. The principal was only slightly hurt. HARRISBURG, S.D. (AP) – The principal of a South Dakota high school has been wounded in a shooting at the school. School officials say a student suspected in the shooting is in custody and other students are reported safe.<\/p>\n

The superintendent of Harrisburg High School, about 10 miles south of Sioux Falls, says Principal Kevin Lein suffered a flesh wound.<\/p>\n

Superintendent James Holbeck tells local media outlets that the suspected shooter is in custody. District administrative assistant Tracy Heiden says all students are safe.<\/p>\n

Lincoln County Deputy State’s Attorney Ross Wright says the suspected shooter is a student.<\/p>\n
