News) \u2013 54 year old Richard LaQua of Jamestown,<br \/>\nAppeared at a hearing in Southeast District Court in Jamestown Monday (May 7, 2012) and entered a change of plea.<br \/>\nA jury trial that was set for this week for LaQua was cancelled.<br \/>\nEarlier this year, LaQua pleaded not guilty to Class C felony charges.<\/p>\n<p>LaQua, a former Jamestown teacher, at the James Valley Career and Technology Center, was charged with sexual assault and luring a minor by computer or other electronic means.<br \/>\nHe is accused of misconduct towards the juvenile girl surfaced in November, of 2011.<br \/>\nHe\u2019s accused of inappropriately touching the girl and sending her sexually explicit text messages. The girl was not a student of LaQua\u2019s.<\/p>\n<p>LaQua was then suspended on November 9, 2011 with pay, by the Jamestown Public School District, and on December 2, 2011 LaQua resigned as a construction technology teacher.<br \/>\nFollowing the charges in court, LaQua was free on $5,000 bond.<\/p>\n<p>During Monday\u2019s court hearing, Laqua pleaded guilty to luring a minor by computer or other electronic means and will serve a total of 60 days in the Stutsman County Correctional Center in Jamestown.<br \/>\nHe reached a plea agreement with prosecutors, in exchange for the guilty plea of luring, as the prosecution dropped the charge of sexual assault.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0In accepting the plea agreement Southeast District Court Judge, Judge Thomas E. Merrick of Jamestown, sentenced LaQua to serve one year with the North Dakota Department of Corrections, with all but 60 days suspended, starting Tuesday in the Stutsman County Correctional Center. LaQua will also receive work release.<br \/>\nAfter his release, LaQua will be on supervised probation for five years, and be required to register as a sex offender for a period of 15 years.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<br \/>\nLaQua To Appear In Court, Change Of Plea Hearing<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V.
