The original contract bid was for $3,210 to re-roof Mary\u2019s Place building in the village, and the board subtracted $2,217 for additional roofing materials that were ordered by contractor employees and charged to FVA.<\/p>\n<p>FVA Secretary-Treasurer Tina Busche, said, &#8220;This was minus the materials ordered in our name and that was not approved by the board or the manager, and was deducted from the bid. We don&#8217;t have the materials in our possession and that is the contractor&#8217;s responsibility.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Questioned about the closed session which was not adverised, FVA President Charley Tanata said it could have been an open meeting.<\/p>\n<p>The board also approved a $9,800 bid from Northland Window &amp; Door of Jamestown to complete the Mary\u2019s Place roofing project.<\/p>\n<p>In other business, the board also approved two new members Thursday, Brittany Reed and Jim Cofield.<\/p>\n<p>Reed, is a second-year student at Valley City State University.<\/p>\n<p>The FVA also approved officers for 2016. Tanata will continue as president, and Nellie Degen was elected vice president.<\/p>\n<p>FVA Manager Nichole Mosolf said the Frontier Village\u2019s annual Halloween Treat Night for children drew 827 children and 682 adults, up from 606 children and 594 adults in 2014.<\/p>\n<p>The Haunted Village on Oct. 30-31, organized by the Wild West Players at Frontier Village, drew 171 people the first night and 189 on the second. There were only 45 people both days in 2014.<\/p>\n<p>$1,800 was raised from the Haunted Village, and $100 was donated to Girl Scout Troop 30858, whose members helped with the event, and $900 was donated to the other volunteer group, Employee Promotion Committee of the State Hospital, some of which will go to various food shelves.<\/p>\n<p>The canned food donations will be going to the food pantry, she said, and the remaining $800 will be applied to the 2016 event.<\/p>\n<p>The Christmas Village event is being planned for Dec. 12.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jamestown (CSi) The Frontier Village Association Board of Directors has voted to pay a contractor for roofing work, after subtracting an amount for additional materials the board never agreed to order.
