{"id":88013,"date":"2015-11-19T13:22:22","date_gmt":"2015-11-19T19:22:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=88013"},"modified":"2015-11-20T20:30:10","modified_gmt":"2015-11-21T02:30:10","slug":"talking-trails-rep-in-jmst-report-on-location-proposals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=88013","title":{"rendered":"Talking Trails rep to report on location proposals"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/DiscoverJMST.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-58265\" alt=\"DiscoverJMST\" src=\"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/DiscoverJMST-300x202.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"202\" srcset=\"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/DiscoverJMST-300x202.jpg 300w, http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/DiscoverJMST-259x175.jpg 259w, http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/DiscoverJMST.jpg 445w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Jamestown (CSi)\u00a0 Jamestown Tourism Director, Searle Swedlund says Shawn Brannan from Talking Trails, in Mandan, will be back in Jamestown on Monday to give a report on proposals for locations for the signage and cell phone information on Jamestown area tourist locations.<\/p>\n<p>Recommendations from Brannan is a goal to use Frontier Village as a launching point for travlers t get excited about the Talking Trail, and to get more people from those 45,135 cars that entered Frontier Village last year to continue their adventure throughout the entire city.<\/p>\n<p>Likewise, by completing the entire Talking Trail project, guests of\u00a0 the University of Jamestown, spectators at the ballpark or Sports Hall of Fame, Louis L&#8217;Amour fans, or people just passing through will have the opportunity of hearing one of the talking points, adding that Talking Trail officials are confident that interaction will inspire then ot check out all the Talking Points throughout the Jamestown community.<\/p>\n<p>Officials point out that with Stutsman County currently grabbing 2.2% of the tourism spending in North Dakota, while Cass County is at 19% and Burleigh County is at 11% \u00a0they believe that Jamestown&#8217;s central location will prove beneficial by using Talking Trail technology by connecting with each traveler more effectively.\u00a0 In doing so, it will keep travelers in Jamestown longer, and have more people than ever before sharing the experiences once they returen home.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile<\/p>\n<p>The Jamestown Tourism Grant\/Executive Advisory board met Thursday at Historic Franklin School.<\/p>\n<p>Grant requests were made on behalf of The Jamestown Classic Car Club\u2019s, Winter Wheels Car Show, and the Jamestown Branch of the AAUW Frontier Village Schoolhouse, and the 1908 map at the site.<\/p>\n<p>The Jamestown Classic Car Club asked for open-ended dollars, for assistance for advertising, for the event to be held January 30, 2016 at the Jamestown Civic Center, in order to reach more to attend from outside the Jamestown trade area.<\/p>\n<p>Jack Meikle (mick-el) said advertising expenses amount to $1,800 and expenses for promotion events at the show amounts to just over $1,000.<\/p>\n<p>The total costs for the show amounts to $7,500.<\/p>\n<p>The board passed a motion to grant $1,800, providing it\u2019s used within event guidelines. Last year the grant approved was for $3,000 for the 2015 show.<\/p>\n<p>The AAUW request of $762.19 to provide, funds to mount and frame and provide acrylic cover for an historic map of North Dakota, in the Pioneer School, at Frontier Village was approved. The total cost of the program is $1,012.19. The AAUW is providing the balance.<\/p>\n<p>Kelly Krien said The Jamestown AAUW Branch had helped to furnish and maintain the Pioneer School since it was moved to Frontier Village, by Reece and Margaret Hawkins. AAUW members and friends have also acted as the &#8220;school teacher&#8221; during the summer season. It has also provided authentic furnishings including books and maps.\u00a0 The request is in conjunction with the Jamestown Community\u00a0Foundation.<\/p>\n<p>He said the grant application forms will be updated, to include those requesting grants being more specific on requests, and will include three separate categories, for the request areas.<\/p>\n<p>In other business, the Tourism Grant\/Executive Advisory Board set the date for the 2016 public fireworks date for July 4, 2016 in conjunction with races at Jamestown Speedway, which will include a $1 charge to the ticket price.<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown Tourism will contribute $10,000 to pay for the fireworks display.<\/p>\n<p>The board approved an increase in the holiday bonuses for Director Searle Swedlund, and Office Manager Emily Bivens.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jamestown (CSi)\u00a0 Jamestown Tourism Director, Searle Swedlund says Shawn Brannan from Talking Trails, in Mandan, will be back in Jamestown on Monday to give a report on proposals for locations for the signage and cell phone information on Jamestown area tourist locations.
