{"id":92836,"date":"2016-01-22T06:00:10","date_gmt":"2016-01-22T12:00:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=92836"},"modified":"2016-01-22T15:27:36","modified_gmt":"2016-01-22T21:27:36","slug":"kourajian-not-seeking-re-election","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=92836","title":{"rendered":"Kourajian not seeking re-election"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Kourajian.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-92856\" alt=\"Kourajian\" src=\"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Kourajian.jpg\" width=\"108\" height=\"175\" \/><\/a>Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 Long-time Jamestown City Council member and former mayor, Charlie Kourajian has announced that he will not seek re-election to the City Council this year.<\/p>\n<p>Kourajian has held a seat\u00a0on the council\u00a0 40 of the past 42 years.<\/p>\n<p>The 86 yer old Kourajian \u00a0says his age is the reason for not running again.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Kourajian was originally elected to the City Council in 1974 from the Fifth Ward.<\/p>\n<p>Kourajian became mayor of Jamestown in 1996 and served in that office for 10 years until he was defeated by Clarice Liechty when he sought re-election in 2006. He was elected to the Jamestown City Council in 2008 and re-elected in 2012.<\/p>\n<p>Kourajian is cutting back on his activities and planned to focus on the bus depot operation.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0He thanks everyone in the community for their support and stated that he will greatly miss being able to serve the city.<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown Mayor Katie Andersen said she has appreciated working with Kourajian.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 Long-time Jamestown City Council member and former mayor, Charlie Kourajian has announced that he will not seek re-election to the City Council this year.
