\"BerquistJerry445office\"<\/a>Jamestown (CSi)A county-wide test of the CodeRED mass notification system was completed on Friday, February 19th, by Stutsman County Communications.\u00a0 Stutsman County Emergency Manager\/9-1-1 Coordinator, Jerry Bergquist says, two separate tests were conducted.\u00a0 The first test which began at 11:24 a.m. was for both
\nland-line and cell phones, in addition to text messaging and email notifications.\u00a0 A second test was conducted at 2:26 p.m. to attempt calls again that were missed during the first test.<\/p>\n

Results of the testing related to text messages and emails indicated that
\n100% of the text and email messages were delivered\u00a0 However, during the text
\nmessage test it was discovered that depending on the cell phone carrier, the
\nindividual receiving the text either received the entire message or only a
\nportion of it.\u00a0 This is an issue that will be addressed with CodeRED.<\/p>\n

Results related to the phone testing indicated that only 63% of the phone
\nnumbers registered into the system received the first test CodeRED message.
\nAn additional 9% were reached during the second test, for a total of 72%.
\nMuch of this is due to the fact that many people were not home at the time
\nof the tests.\u00a0 The number of people notified could be dramatically increased
\nif individuals would take the time to register their cell phone numbers with
\nCodeRED.\u00a0 Land line telephone numbers are already included in the
\nnotification database.<\/p>\n

However, to receive notifications via cell phone, email or text, individuals
\nmust sign up for the service by going to the Stutsman County website
\n(http:\/\/www.co.stutsman.nd.us\/<\/span><\/a>), scroll to the bottom of the page and click
\non the CodeRED icon.\u00a0 Those without Internet access can call Stutsman County
\nEmergency Management at 701-252-9093, Monday through Friday, (8AM-5PM) to
\nsign up over the phone.<\/p>\n

CodeRED is used to alert Stutsman County residents of emergency events and
\nnotifications of immediate concern to the public.\u00a0 CodeRED service is free
\nof charge to residents and businesses.\u00a0 Questions regarding CodeRED services

This system is used to alert residents of emergency events and notifications of immediate concern to the public. CodeRED informs the public by calling all land line telephones within the selected warned area. It also alerts those individuals that have signed up for notifications via cell phone, email or text message.<\/p>\n

CodeRED service is free of charge to residents and businesses. Land line telephones are already included in the notification database. To receive notifications via cell phone, email or text, individuals can sign up for the service by going to the Stutsman County website http:\/\/www.co.stutsman.nd.us\/<\/a>, scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the CodeRED icon<\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
