(AP) &#8211; North Dakota Secretary of State Al Jaeger has approved for circulation a petition to put legalizing marijuana use up to a statewide vote.<\/p>\n<p>Jaeger on Wednesday said the measure&#8217;s backers must gather about 13,500 qualified signatures by July 11 to put it to a statewide vote in the November general election.<\/p>\n<p>The petition seeks to make it legal to grow, possess, use and distribute marijuana for people 21 and older.<\/p>\n<p>The petition is separate from an effort to legalize medical marijuana in North Dakota. With voters&#8217; approval, that initiative would make it legal for North Dakotans to possess up to 3 ounces of marijuana for medical purposes. It says those who qualify could obtain the drug from a state-licensed dispensary or grow a limited supply for personal use.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D.
