{"id":97395,"date":"2016-03-22T16:50:29","date_gmt":"2016-03-22T21:50:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=97395"},"modified":"2016-03-23T09:39:36","modified_gmt":"2016-03-23T14:39:36","slug":"committee-recommends-coca-cola-civic-cntr","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=97395","title":{"rendered":"Committee recommends Coca-Cola, Civic Center"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-19308\" src=\"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/City-Hall-4-300x202.jpg\" alt=\"City Hall 4\" width=\"300\" height=\"202\" srcset=\"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/City-Hall-4-300x202.jpg 300w, http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/City-Hall-4-259x175.jpg 259w, http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/City-Hall-4.jpg 445w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown City Council\u2019s Finance &amp; Legal, Building Planning and Zoning, and Civic Center and Promotion Committee met Tuesday afternoon at City Hall.\u00a0 All members were present.<\/p>\n<p>FINANCE &amp; LEGAL COMMITTEE<\/p>\n<p>The committee considered the application for an abatement from W2005\/Fargo Hotels (Pool C) Realty, LP (Comfort Inn) on Lot 2, Block 3, Wagon Master\u2019s Addition by reducing the true &amp; full value for 2015 from $1,725,580 to $934,560.<\/p>\n<p>City Assessor, Darrell Wollan said he recommends denying the abatement, based on an incomplete income statement provided, by the hotel.<\/p>\n<p>Mayor Andersen moved to deny and stay with the original true and full value of the property. The committee voted to recommend denial.<\/p>\n<p>The committee recommends approval of the JSDC 3 Year Strategic Plan.\u00a0 CEO Connie Ova asked for approval, in that if this is the direction the city wishes to proceed.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Considered was entering into the Joint Powers Agreement with the Jamestown Park District relative to the 1% City Sales Tax for the construction of the TRAC Facility.<\/p>\n<p>The additional 1% City Sales Tax will be implemented on April 1, 2016.<\/p>\n<p>The committee\u00a0 moved the issue to the City Council without recommendation.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The committee considered approving the revised Job Description for the City Engineer position. City\u00a0Adminstrator Jeff Fuchs said a major change is for the position having little or no public works department duties. The director of public works would be responsible to the city administrator.<\/p>\n<p>Mayor Andersen suggested the city engineer be responsible to handle requests for proposals.<\/p>\n<p>Fuchs said he will make clarifications, and bring it back for consideration.<\/p>\n<p>The committee recommends approving as amended.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>First Reading of an Ordinances was reviewed granting a continued franchise to the following utilities whose franchises have expired:<\/p>\n<p>a. Century Link<\/p>\n<p>b. Cable Services, Inc.<\/p>\n<p>c. Dakota Central Communications<\/p>\n<p>City Administrator Fuchs indicated meeting with the entities. The expired Ordinance for CSi was 10 years and 5 years for Daktel.<\/p>\n<p>The committee recommends the First Reading, at the April City Council meeting.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Informational: Departmental and financial reports were submitted.<\/p>\n<p>BUILDING, PLANNING &amp; ZONING COMMITTEE<\/p>\n<p>The committee considered approving a land use plan amendment on Lot 1, Block 2, Mill Hill 2<span style=\"font-size: xx-small;\">nd <\/span>Addition, from Commercial to Medium Density Residential, adjacent to the south side fire hall. The action is a land use plan amendment.<\/p>\n<p>The committee recommends approval.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The committee discussed the Second Reading of an Ordinance to enact a Section of The City Code, Appendix C pertaining to traffic impact studies; and to amend Section 9 of Appendix B pertaining to preliminary plat items and to amend a Section pertaining to the amendment process.<\/p>\n<p>Mayor Andersen said she has concerns of wanting the city to be perceived as &#8220;development friendly.&#8221; She said approval would be an additional expense, and should only trigger for a large development. She said the Ordinance would not be beneficial to Jamestown with the developer paying for a traffic impact study. Council Member Buchanan said the Ordinance would not place an undue burden on developers.<\/p>\n<p>The Second Reading will come before the April City Council meeting.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>CIVIC CENTER AND PROMOTION COMMITTEE<\/p>\n<p>The committee discussed soft drink vendor proposals received from Coca Cola and Pepsi.<\/p>\n<p>The committee recommends approval to Coke, as the exclusive provider of soft drinks to the Civic Center.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting was shown live on CSi 67 followed by replays.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown City Council\u2019s Finance &amp; Legal, Building Planning and Zoning, and Civic Center and Promotion Committee met Tuesday afternoon at City Hall.\u00a0 All members were present.
