(AP) \u2014 A postal worker from North Dakota has been sentenced to home monitoring and ordered to pay back more than $10,000 that was stolen from a registered mail sack.<\/p>\n<p>Ronald Slattery is charged in federal court with mail theft. He pleaded guilty in November.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities say Slattery took money that was intended to be delivered from the post office in Jamestown to the post office in Oakes.<\/p>\n<p>U.S. District Judge Ralph Erickson says the electronic monitoring should not last longer than six months. The judge ordered Slattery to serve three years on probation.<\/p>\n<p>A federal public defender could not be reached for comment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>FARGO, N.D.
