Rick Becker of Bismarck for the nomination.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_ym18_1_1459641143973_2651\">The votes were tallied up for a second time around 4:00 p.m. Saturday at the Republican National Convention in Fargo at Scheels Arena.<\/p>\n<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_ym18_1_1459641143973_2652\">Stenehjem won with 823 votes or 50.82% of the vote. \u00a0He needed 819 votes to win the majority.<\/p>\n<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_ym18_1_1459641143973_2653\">Becker came in second with 618 votes or 37.75% of the vote.<\/p>\n<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_ym18_1_1459641143973_2654\">Burgum came in third with 157 votes or 9.59% of the vote.<\/p>\n<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_ym18_1_1459641143973_2655\">1637 delegates were present at the convention.<\/p>\n<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_ym18_1_1459641143973_2656\">This first round of voting saw Stenehjem with 47% of the vote with 769 votes, Becker at 35.9% of the vote with 587 votes and Burgum with 15.1% of the vote with 247 votes.<\/p>\n<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_ym18_1_1459641143973_2658\">It was the party&#8217;s first three-way race for governor since 1992.\u00a0\u00a0Doug Burgum, a Fargo entrepreneur will continue on to the June Primary election.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/PoolmanNicole.png\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-98103\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-98103\" src=\"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/PoolmanNicole-150x150.png\" alt=\"PoolmanNicole\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>.<\/p>\n<p>Poolman, (Bismarck), \u00a0has been in the state senate since 2013. \u00a0She&#8217;s also a teacher at Century High School and a board member for the Anne Carlsen Center, an advocacy group for those with disabilities.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) &#8211; Sat, the GOP selected Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem as\u00a0the Republican candidate for governor of North Dakota. \u00a0On Sunday,\u00a0State Senator Nicole Poolman, of Bismarck, was picked to\u00a0run for lieutenant governor. &nbsp; Stenehjem ran against Fargo businessman Doug Burgum and state Rep.
