ELGIN, N.D. (AP) – A Lake Tschida camping area will be closed and a boat ramp will be taken out as of May 28 due to a tiff with a neighboring landowner.
\n\u00a0The Bismarck Tribune reports\u00a0 that Koehler’s Point will be closed by the Bureau of Outdoor Reclamation because the bureau is unable to obtain a road easement. Bureau spokeswoman Patience Hurley says walk-in use is the only way the point will be open.
\n\u00a0Hurley says the matter came to a head when landowner Corey Roth put up speed bumps and fences, leading to access being unsafe.
\n\u00a0Roth says he recorded a new public easement across his land to the camping area that provides a roadway measuring between 18 and 33 feet wide. Hurley says a 33-foot easement is required by the bureau.<\/p>\n
