Jamestown (CSi) Jamestown Police was called to Wells Fargo Bank\u2019s parking lot, in Downtown Jamestown \u00a0about 1-p.m. on Tuesday, when bank officials called a report that six male juveniles were involved in a skirmish at the bank parking lot.<\/p>\n
Lt. Robert Opp says the incident was over when the units arrived.<\/p>\n
Allegedly a couple of punches were thrown between those involved.<\/p>\n
The youths apparently knew each other, and were the only ones involved.<\/p>\n
No injuries were reported.<\/p>\n
Opp says a report will be sent to juvenile authorities to determine if any action will be taken against those involved.<\/p>\n

Valley City (CSi) The Valley City Commission will meet Wednesday morning at 8:30 in Special Session at City Hall.<\/p>\n
Commissioners will receive a petition for a special election for the mayor vacancy, and\u00a0are expected to be \u00a0setting an election date.<\/p>\n
A group led by Janis Clark Klein successfully gathered the necessary signatures to have the City Commission call for an election to fill out the remaining two year term of former mayor Bob Werkhoven.<\/p>\n
City Auditor Avis Richter says petitioners submitted more than the 66 signatures from city residents needed for the city commission to set up an election.<\/p>\n
Under the City Code, the City Commission may call a special election to fill the unexpired term, or may, after 15 days appoint a person to fill the unexpired term.<\/p>\n
Another option is upon a petition of 5 percent of the qualified electors (based on the total number of ballots cast in the last city general election) the city commission must call a special election if there is more than 6 months left on the term, and the petition has been submitted within 15 days of the vacancy.<\/p>\n
Mayor Robert Werkhoven resigned on May 12, 2016, and the City Commission accepted his resignation at the May 17, 2016, City Commission meeting. The current mayoral term in Valley City ends in June of 2018.<\/p>\n

Nome (CSi) The North Dakota Highway Patrol reports, a male escaped serious injury when the vehicle he was driving went into a slough about three miles east of Nome Monday morning.<\/p>\n
The patrol says alcohol was a factor in the crash which remains under investigation.<\/p>\n
DUI and DUS charges are pending against the man.<\/p>\n

FARGO, N.D. (AP) – The sheriff’s office in Cass County says an inmate is facing an additional charge after he injured a deputy while he was being booked into the jail.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities on Tuesday said inmate Michael Jonathon Cox head-butted deputy Bennett Strege on Sunday. Cox has been charged with simple assault of a peace officer in connection with the incident at the jail.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The sheriff’s office says Cox originally had been arrested on a terrorizing charge. Authorities say Cox was not being cooperative when he arrived at the jail and refused to comply with the orders of the arresting officers.<\/p>\n

\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – A Mandan man shot by Bismarck police in January has pleaded not guilty to an escape charge that authorities say was filed after he tried to leave the hospital where he was detained for treatment after the shooting.\u00a0

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Travis Clark Jr. on Tuesday pleaded not guilty to escape and unlawful entry into a vehicle.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Clark was shot by two Bismarck police officers on Jan. 31 after authorities say he ignored the officers’ commands and reached for what officers believed was a weapon.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities allege that while Clark was in the hospital on Feb. 7, he overpowered a private security officer, ran from the hospital and entered a vehicle. He later left the vehicle without incident and was returned to custody.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Clark was sentenced in March to five years in prison on several charges, including burglary.

\u00a0FORT TOTTEN, N.D. (AP) – The Spirit Lake Tribe will take over the full operation of a government-run clinic on its reservation in east-central North Dakota this week.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Indian Health Service, which has been running the facility, announced the move Tuesday. The agreement effective Wednesday transfers to the tribe the administrative and clinical operations of the Spirit Lake Health Center in Fort Totten.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 All funding for programs, services and other activities at the facility will also be managed by the tribe.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Spirit Lake Tribe is the first one in the Great Plains to enter what is considered a “self-governance agreement.”

(AP) – Jurors have found former suburban Chicago police officer Drew Peterson guilty of trying to hire someone to kill the prosecutor who helped convict him in his third wife’s death. The jury released the verdict after deliberating for little more than an hour. Peterson was accused of trying to hire a fellow inmate’s uncle to kill Will County State’s Attorney James Glasgow. Peterson is serving a 38-year sentence in ex-wife Kathleen Savio’s death and faces up to 60 more years in prison.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 LOS ANGELES (AP) – A jury has convicted an actor who played a police officer on TV of second-degree murder in the shooting death of his wife in Los Angeles. The verdict was read today after the weeklong trial of Michael Jace. He had told detectives he didn’t intend to kill his wife and only wanted to inflict pain.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 CINCINNATI (AP) – Police in Cincinnati say they’re investigating what happened over the weekend at the Cincinnati Zoo, where a 4-year-old boy got into a gorilla’s enclosure, and the gorilla was shot to death to protect the child. There’s also a federal investigation. A spokeswoman for an Agriculture Department agency says it will be looking for any violations of the Animal Welfare act. Meanwhile, Donald Trump is supporting the zoo’s decision — saying it was a “very tough call,” but that a child’s life was at stake.

The massive wildfire destroyed about 2,400 structures almost a month ago in Fort McMurray but 90 percent of the city remains intact. Residents of three neighborhoods won’t be able to return because of environmental concerns.
