Murphy received 522 votes, D. Rose Niles received 305 votes<\/p>\n James Rindy with 251 votes, and Joshua Dreher received 234 votes.<\/p>\n Pat Copenhaver won the open commission seat with 805 total votes.<\/p>\n Paul Murphy received was the top vote getter for Foster County State\u2019s Attorney with 718 votes.<\/p>\n Foster County voters have approved having the County Commission be increased from three commissioners to five commissioners. 715 voting to approve, and 321 voting in opposition.<\/p>\n Voters also turned down having the Foster County State\u2019s Attorney be an appointed position.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – In both the governor’s race and a farming referendum, North Dakota primary voters turned aside the Republican establishment. Burgum will face the Deomocratic endorsed candidate for governor, Marvin Nelson in November.<\/p>\n \u00a0x-Doug Burgum 67,450 – 59 percent <\/p>\n <\/p>\n (JAMESTOWN, ND) \u2013 Today, the North Dakota Farmers Union (NDFU) thanked voters for soundly rejecting Measure 1. Measure 1 would have allowed corporate farming in North Dakota.<\/p>\n “We always believed that the people of North Dakota would agree that the family farm structure is best for our state\u2019s economy and our communities,” said Mark Watne, NDFU president. “The results tonight are a strong message that the people don\u2019t want corporate farming in North Dakota.”<\/p>\n Last year, the North Dakota State Legislature passed SB 2351, which would have allowed corporate ownership of swine and dairy operations. NDFU collected more than 20,000 signatures to put the law to a vote of the people. Measure 1 was the result of that effort.<\/p>\n “From the minute this law passed, we saw tremendous grassroots support to overturn the law,” Watne said. “People were fired up, and they did not want this dangerous law to go into effect. The volunteer support and enthusiasm was remarkable.”<\/p>\n NDFU and North Dakotans for Family Farms ran the campaign to overturn the law. More than 90,000 calls were made and 5,000 doors were knocked on.<\/p>\n “We left no stone unturned to defeat Measure 1, because it was that important to us and to our state,” Watne said. “There is a reason that our volunteers made tens of thousands of calls in January alone. (AP) – Minot voters have overwhelmingly approved major changes to the makeup of the City Council in North Dakota’s fourth-largest city. <\/p>\n In other news…<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Valley City (CSi) Valley City Police report a 51 year old man died Monday, caused by a riding lawnmower accident at Hanna Field in Valley City.<\/p>\n When police arrived they discovered 51 year old Todd Heck face-down with the riding lawnmower on his back.<\/p>\n The unit was removed, and first responders from Barnes County Ambulance determined that he had died.<\/p>\n During the investigation authorities determined that Heck was mowing up an incline, when the 1,300 pound mower flipped over, trapping him under the mower, causing fatal injuries.<\/p>\n Heck was employed by the Valley City Public School District, which was notified along with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, as the accident remains under investigation<\/p>\n \u3000<\/p>\n Jamestown (CSi) A 45 minute Jamestown Police pursuit covered 35-miles early Monday, starting just after 2-a.m. from Southeast Jamestown.<\/p>\n Lt. Justin Blinsky, says the pursuit started when the vehicle took off after officers tried a traffic stop.<\/p>\n The chase continued on County Road 39 into the county, going into Ypsalanti, ending when spike strips will put down, to blow the tires near County Road 38.<\/p>\n The driver from New Rockford, was charged with DUI, Driving with a Revoked License, Attempting to Elude Police, and Reckless Endangerment.
