(AP) &#8211; The North Dakota Highway Patrol says a man and woman were killed when a pickup truck rear-ended their car in Rolette County.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Highway Patrol says the crash occurred Tuesday afternoon on U.S. Highway 281, about 6 miles east of Dunseith.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Troopers say 43-year-old Belcourt resident Dwight Azure and 44-year-old Rolla resident Heidi Azure died at the scene. The Highway Patrol says their car was slowing to make a turn on a secondary road when it was struck by the pickup truck.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The 47-year-old driver of the pickup, Lyle Beston, of Belcourt, has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. Beston and one of his two passengers suffered minor injuries.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Beston&#8217;s court record doesn&#8217;t list an attorney who could comment on his charge.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>MOORHEAD, Minn. (AP) &#8211; A North Dakota sheriff has pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor charge stemming from an altercation at a Minnesota bar.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Sargent County Sheriff Travis Paeper has entered his plea to the disorderly conduct charge.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Paeper was charged in Clay County, Minnesota, for the May 14 incident at the Red Hen Taphouse in Dilworth. Paeper previously told the station that the charge was a surprise.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Court documents say Paeper was sitting at a table with three women who asked him to leave after he said something they didn&#8217;t like. Paeper told police that a woman hit him in the face five times.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Police say Paeper was uncooperative and criticized a Dilworth officer for not &#8220;backing a brother in blue.&#8221;<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Paeper&#8217;s next hearing is scheduled for Aug. 24.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A judge says a man accused of kidnapping and assaulting his former girlfriend in Williston last year will remain in jail, despite the man&#8217;s claims that his right to a timely trial has been violated.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0 40-year-old Omar Toure of Columbus, Ohio, has been held without bond since his March 2015 arrest. (AP) &#8211; A low-cost miniature satellite that a University of North Dakota research team has been working on for five years is ready for testing ahead of its scheduled December launch.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The so-called CubeSat is a 2-pound device that can be held in the palm of a person&#8217;s hand. It will be North Dakota&#8217;s first spacecraft to orbit the earth.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The project is meant to demonstrate the ability to make a functional spacecraft for a few thousand dollars. The team is hoping that other space buffs can use the template to build a satellite.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The spacecraft is scheduled to catch a ride on a supply ship heading to the International Space Station.
