Jamestown (CSi) The Fargo Veterans Administration office will host a free legal clinic for veterans July 13, 2016, from 9-a.m., to 3-p.m., at the third floor auditorium.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday\u2019s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, Stutsman County Veterans Service Office, David Bratton said the VA is offering the legal clinic to vets that may otherwise may not have legal counsel available or may not be able to afford the fees.<\/p>\n

He also pointed out that Project Evergreen is geared to offer summer lawn care and winter snow removal to veterans, or families of military personnel now serving in the military. Call 1-877-758-4835 for more information.<\/p>\n

A day-long clinic for caregivers is set for August 12, 2016, from 9-a.m., to noon on managing stress and another afternoon session from 1-p.m., to 4-p.m., on problem solving and effective communications for family caregivers, at the Fargo VA.<\/p>\n

Bratton said a Disabled Veterans Deer Hunt is planned November 7,8, 2016, at Camp Grafton. Arrangements can be made by calling the Barnes County Veterans Service office, with applications due by July 29, 2016.<\/p>\n

He reminds veterans that the PTSD Support Group meets in Jamestown the second and fourth Tuesdays each month at 12:30-p.m., at the Law Enforcement Center\u2019s lower level meeting room, with a combat veteran from the Fargo VA.<\/p>\n

DUNSEITH, N.D. (AP) – The North Dakota Highway Patrol says a man and woman were killed when a pickup truck rear-ended their car in Rolette County.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Highway Patrol says the crash occurred Tuesday afternoon on U.S. Highway 281, about 6 miles east of Dunseith.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Troopers say 43-year-old Belcourt resident Dwight Azure and 44-year-old Rolla resident Heidi Azure died at the scene. The Highway Patrol says their car was slowing to make a turn on a secondary road when it was struck by the pickup truck.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The 47-year-old driver of the pickup, Lyle Beston, of Belcourt, has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. Beston and one of his two passengers suffered minor injuries.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Beston’s court record doesn’t list an attorney who could comment on his charge.<\/p>\n

MOORHEAD, Minn. (AP) – A North Dakota sheriff has pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor charge stemming from an altercation at a Minnesota bar.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Sargent County Sheriff Travis Paeper has entered his plea to the disorderly conduct charge.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Paeper was charged in Clay County, Minnesota, for the May 14 incident at the Red Hen Taphouse in Dilworth. Paeper previously told the station that the charge was a surprise.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Court documents say Paeper was sitting at a table with three women who asked him to leave after he said something they didn’t like. Paeper told police that a woman hit him in the face five times.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Police say Paeper was uncooperative and criticized a Dilworth officer for not “backing a brother in blue.”
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Paeper’s next hearing is scheduled for Aug. 24.<\/p>\n

WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) – A judge says a man accused of kidnapping and assaulting his former girlfriend in Williston last year will remain in jail, despite the man’s claims that his right to a timely trial has been violated.

\n\u00a0 40-year-old Omar Toure of Columbus, Ohio, has been held without bond since his March 2015 arrest. A trial is slated for August.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Toure’s attorney, Kevin McCabe, filed for a motion to dismiss the case, arguing that delays have made it difficult to find witnesses.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Williams County prosecutor Nathan Madden says Toure’s request for an interpreter who speaks Wolof, a language spoken in Senegal and other African countries, has caused delays.<\/p>\n

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – North Dakota’s Public Service Commission has approved a $250 million wind farm and associated electric transmission facilities in Hettinger and Stark counties.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The three-member panel on Wednesday unanimously approved the project’s siting application, clearing the way for construction to start.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Brady Wind LLC is planning the wind farm of up to 72 turbines and associated facilities. It would produce up to 100 megawatts of power.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 All wind turbines are proposed to be located in Hettinger County. Facilities located in Stark County include underground electrical collection systems and cables.<\/p>\n

FARGO, N.D. (AP) – A low-cost miniature satellite that a University of North Dakota research team has been working on for five years is ready for testing ahead of its scheduled December launch.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The so-called CubeSat is a 2-pound device that can be held in the palm of a person’s hand. It will be North Dakota’s first spacecraft to orbit the earth.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The project is meant to demonstrate the ability to make a functional spacecraft for a few thousand dollars. The team is hoping that other space buffs can use the template to build a satellite.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The spacecraft is scheduled to catch a ride on a supply ship heading to the International Space Station. Program director Jeremy Straub says the team has moved from the design phase to “fixing the things that don’t work.”<\/p>\n

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) – Two white police officers in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, are on administrative leave as the U.S. Justice Department investigates the fatal shooting of a black man. The police chief says the man who was fatally shot by police was armed, but that there are still questions about what happened. The Justice Department’s investigation will look into whether the officers willfully violated Alton Sterling’s civil rights through the use of unreasonable or excessive force.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) – As she continues to rip away at Donald Trump’s business reputation, Hillary Clinton is calling him a “shameful” businessman with a history of exploiting workers. Standing on the boardwalk in Atlantic City, New Jersey — where a casino still carries Trump’s name, even though he’s no longer involved — Clinton focused on Trump’s bankruptcies, and said he had failed to pay contractors for millions of dollars of work. Trump responds that he “created thousands of jobs and made a lot of money in Atlantic City.”

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 WASHINGTON (AP) – Donald Trump says he raised $51 million for his campaign and for allied Republicans in the month of June. That’s a dramatic uptick from his May numbers but sharply less than likely presidential opponent Hillary Clinton’s June haul. Clinton’s campaign says she raised almost $70 million in June for her presidential bid and for Democratic allies. Clinton has spent tens of millions of dollars more than Trump to build up voter contact operations and advertisements ahead of the November election.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 MADISON, Wis. (AP) – Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker is ready to endorse Donald Trump. The Republican governor made his intentions known today on Twitter. He pointed out that he pledged last August to support the eventual nominee. And without naming Trump, Walker said, “He is better than she is.” Walker said last month he was withholding an endorsement until Trump renounced his comments about a Hispanic judge. Minutes from last month’s meeting show that they were increasingly worried about the U.S economy because of a sharp slowdown in job growth and the potential threat posed by a vote in Britain over leaving the European Union.
