Everyone turning in their tour ticket there or at their last tour site, will be eligible for door prizes.<\/p>\n<p>Proceeds from the garden tour support the AAUW Educational Foundation, The AAUW Legal Advocacy Fund and the AAUW Endowment Fund at the University of Jamestown.<\/p>\n<p>For more information and maps showing the host sites, visit the Jamestown AAUW website at http:\/\/jamestown-nd.aauw.net or call Kelly Krein, 252-4690 or 4107.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) has re-opened their used bookstore at the Buffalo Mall.<\/p>\n<p>On The Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, Kelly Krein pointed out that the new location is across from the previous location now, next to the fabric shop.<\/p>\n<p>For the remainder of July the store is open on Friday July 29<sup>th<\/sup>, from 11-a.m., to 2-p.m., and Saturdays July 30<sup>th<\/sup> and August 13<sup>th<\/sup> and 27<sup>th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>Otherwise the bookstore is open Thursdays from 11-a.m., to 2-p.m., with a variety of used books with a range of prices starting as low as 25-cents, with average of $1 to $4. Other books may be more depending on the type and age of the book.<\/p>\n<p>She pointed out that reference books old than the year 2000 are not accept, nor are books in poor condition, which may be recycled.<\/p>\n<p>Used books can be dropped off in the bin in front of the store, or when the store is open or make arrangements to drop off large amounts.<\/p>\n<p>The used bookstore proceeds go to\u00a0 the AAUW\u2019s continued support of the Jamestown Arts Center, the University of Jamestown, the Alfred Dickey Public Library, the Frontier Village School House, and other community programs.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; More than 900,000 flea beetles that eat leafy spurge were distributed during recent field days in Billings, Grant and <strong>Stutsman<\/strong> counties.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Leafy spurge is one of North Dakota&#8217;s most problematic weeds. The state Agriculture Department and county weed boards set up the field days so people with spurge problems can collect the bugs from established populations.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring says the beetles have proven to be an effective biological control tool.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Other options to combat leafy spurge include herbicide application, sheep or goat grazing and cultivation.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>WEST FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A 74-year-old Fargo man was not seriously injured when the minivan he was driving crashed into a car wash business in West Fargo.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities say the vehicle and the building suffered extensive damage Sunday night. The driver told police that the vehicle&#8217;s brakes locked up, causing him to swerve into the building.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 He was treated for undisclosed injuries at a hospital and released. No other injuries were reported.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A man accused of using his pickup truck, boots and a knife to assault one man and kill another on the Spirit Lake Reservation will remain jailed until trial.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 U.S. Magistrate Judge Alice Senechal rejected a defense request to allow Dallas Thundershield to be moved to a private home or a halfway house, with monitoring. She based her decision on the alleged crime and Thundershield&#8217;s criminal history of assault and escape.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The federal public defender&#8217;s office declined comment.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Thundershield is accused of killing Richard Demarce Sr. and injuring Elvis Demarce in an April 9 fight that began while the three were driving around with Thundershield&#8217;s girlfriend. Authorities haven&#8217;t elaborated on the nature of the argument.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Thundershield has pleaded not guilty to murder and assault. He&#8217;s to stand trial in September.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Charges are pending against a Mandan police officer accused of breaking into his ex-girlfriend&#8217;s home in neighboring Bismarck.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The 29-year-old man was arrested Saturday afternoon, and fired from his job with the police department.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities allege the man forced his way into his ex-girlfriend&#8217;s home Saturday morning by breaking through a door leading from an attached garage into the home. It was unclear if anything was taken.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A man accused of distributing a heroin substance in the Fargo area that led to two overdoses in April has pleaded guilty.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Gregory Krutsinger, of Moorhead, Minnesota, is charged in federal court with conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute a controlled substance resulting in serious bodily injury. The charge carries a maximum sentence of life in prison.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 An affidavit says Krutsinger is responsible for distributing drugs that are &#8220;harming people and even causing death.&#8221;<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Law enforcement officials and other community members have been conducting public forums over the summer warning people about the increase in opioid overdoses and deaths.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Sentencing for Krutsinger is set for Oct. 4.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0 FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A Minnesota man who walked away from a Fargo halfway house has pleaded guilty in federal court.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Chad Sumner is charged with escape. Authorities say he was serving the last few months of a three-year sentence for child endangerment when he fled from Centre, Inc. on Jan 16. He was scheduled to be released from custody on March 2.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Court documents show that Sumner cut the strap from his electronic monitoring device and threw it in a garbage bin at a Fargo gas station. He was arrested in Red Lake, Minnesota, on Feb. 8.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The charge carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison. Sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 4 in Fargo.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0WAHPETON, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Officials have scheduled a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Wahpeton&#8217;s new elementary school next month.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The event is slated for Monday, Aug. 15, at 5:30 p.m.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The school is part of an education complex scheduled to open in the fall.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Demolition of the former elementary school is expected to occur in early October.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>BURLINGTON, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Residents of Burlington over the weekend celebrated their recovery from the 2011 Souris River flood.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Events included a parade, meals, an all-faiths church service and a street dance.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The town of about 1,200 people near Minot was hit hard by flooding five years ago. PAUL, Minn. (AP) &#8211; Former Minnesota Gov. Wendell Anderson, a Democrat who was seen as embodying his state when he posed for an iconic Time magazine cover only to lose public confidence by arranging his own appointment to the U.S. Senate, has died. He was 83.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Gov. Mark Dayton&#8217;s office says Anderson died Sunday in hospice care in St. Paul.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Anderson was elected governor in 1970. Time featured the handsome former Olympic hockey player in a glowing 1973 story about Minnesota, calling him &#8220;a Midwestern Kennedy.&#8221; At the height of his popularity in 1974, Anderson beat his Republican challenger by better than a 2-to-1 margin.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Anderson&#8217;s downfall was taking the Senate seat of newly elected Vice President Walter Mondale in 1976. Voters never forgave him for claiming Mondale&#8217;s seat by appointment, a move that required him to quit as governor. Voters decisively rejected Anderson in favor of Republican Rudy Boschwitz in 1978.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In sports&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Valley City\u00a0 (CSi, VCSU) \u2013 The NAIA National Office has announced\u00a0 that 12 Valley City State University athletic teams have earned the NAIA Scholar-Team Award.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>For a team to be considered for the NAIA Scholar-Team award, it must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) as defined by the institution. The team grade point average includes all eligible varsity student-athletes.<\/p>\n<p>Twelve of Valley City State\u2019s 14 athletic teams received the award. (AP) &#8211; The number of neighborhood baseball diamonds in Minot, North Dakota has dwindled due to building projects and indifference in the community.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Minot Daily News reports that a sign where children used to gather on a small baseball diamond located near Roosevelt School reads: &#8220;This field is not for baseball.&#8221;<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Two diamonds on the playground of the former Washington Elementary School have been swiped for a building project. A once popular baseball field at Edison Elementary has been converted into a parking lot.
