(AP) &#8211; Authorities have identified a Florida man who died in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 94 in southwestern North Dakota.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Highway Patrol says 57-year-old Lawrence Ormsby from Keystone Heights, Florida, was driving a large truck towing a flatbed trailer that went in the ditch, jackknifed and overturned east of Dickinson.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The man was pronounced dead at the scene about 9:30 a.m. Thursday. He was alone in the vehicle.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Highway Patrol says the crash remains under investigation.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; The North Dakota Highway Patrol says a Glen Ullin man is dead after the car he was driving crashed into another vehicle on Interstate 94 in Morton County.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities identified the driver on Friday as 21-year-old Chandler Schmidt.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Highway Patrol says Schmidt&#8217;s car entered the median Thursday and hit a car going the opposite direction. Authorities say the two people in the car that was struck aren&#8217;t injured.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Two people are in custody after a University of North Dakota police officer found marijuana joints, prescription pills and THC-laced food in their vehicle during a traffic stop.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The UND Police Department says the officer pulled over the vehicle around 1:40 a.m. Friday after noticing that it was missing a front license plate. The officer then detected the odor of marijuana coming from the sport utility vehicle.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A search of the SUV yielded 21 marijuana cigarettes, oxycodone pills, a small amount of methamphetamine, about $2,100 in cash, two digital scales and THC-laced chocolate bars, caramel waffles and peanut butter chocolates.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The female driver and male passenger were arrested on drug-related charges. They are in custody at the Grand Forks County Correctional Center.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>MINOT, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A Minot man accused of strangling his wife&#8217;s dog has been cleared of wrongdoing.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Sixty-three-year-old Darnell Hankel was accused of killing an 11-year-old miniature dachshund in April 2014. Authorities say his wife reported the alleged incident last fall.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0 Judge Richard Hagar on Thursday dismissed a felony animal cruelty charge filed against Hankel. Hagar agreed with defense attorney Tom Slorby&#8217;s argument that there is nothing in state law forbidding an owner from euthanizing an animal by choking it.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0MANDAN, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A Mandan man accused of causing a fatal crash in June while driving under the influence of illegal drugs has pleaded not guilty to criminal vehicular homicide.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Thirty-five-year-old Ryan Riveland is charged in the death of 83-year-old New Salem resident Robert Slavick. He also faces charges of driving under the influence and possessing marijuana and methamphetamine.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities allege that Riveland rear-ended Slavick&#8217;s vehicle on Old Highway 10, sending it into a steep ravine.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Riveland is scheduled for a four-day trial beginning Oct. 25.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>MANDAN, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A Cannon Ball man accused of killing two people and injuring two others while driving drunk is headed to trial.<br \/>\n\u00a0Court documents show a four-day trial has been scheduled beginning Oct. 25 for 29-year-old K Riley Plenty Chief. He faces felony criminal vehicular homicide and vehicular injury charges that could land him in prison for 50 years if he&#8217;s convicted.<br \/>\n\u00a0Authorities allege Plenty Chief was driving a vehicle that crashed head-on into a car on state Highway 1806 south of Mandan on April 14. The Bismarck Tribune reports\u00a0 that prosecutors believe the crash was suicidal rather than accidental.<br \/>\n\u00a0Plenty Chief has pleaded not guilty<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; North Dakota delegates to the Republican National Convention are giving presidential nominee Donald Trump high marks for his acceptance speech. GOP state Reps. Rick Becker, of Bismarck, and Roscoe Streyle, of Minot, say Trump appeared to be more presidential than ever. The delegates say Trump has painted a realistic picture of the country&#8217;s problems and made forceful promises to fix them, which they believe will appeal to the voters he needs to win in November.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In sports&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; The most popular trophy in sports won&#8217;t be the only historical artifact on display next week when Pittsburgh Penguins center Matt Cullen shows it off in the Fargo-Moorhead area. The Stanley Cup will be next to a Stanley car.\u00a0 A West Fargo antique car museum is tuning up a 1936 Rolls-Royce that belonged to Edward Stanley, son of the man who founded the cup that goes to the NHL champion. Cullen will pose for pictures with the cup and the car at the Bonanzaville museum on July 30.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) \u2013 Dennis Green, a trailblazing coach who led a Minnesota Vikings renaissance in the 1990s and also coached the Arizona Cardinals, has died. He was 67.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Green\u2019s family posted a message on the Cardinals website on Friday announcing the death. Other details were not immediately disclosed, though the Cardinals said Green had died of a heart attack.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Green spent 10 seasons in Minnesota, leading the Vikings to eight playoff appearances and two NFC championship games. He only had one losing season and compiled an overall record of 97-62, including a 15-1 regular season in 1998 spearheaded by a record-setting offense. His three-year run with the Cardinals was less successful, but Arizona President Michael Bidwell said Green would be remembered as a true innovator, leader and pioneer among coaches.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>MINNEAPOLIS (AP) &#8211; The Minnesota Vikings opened their new $1.1 billion stadium with a bang on Friday.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Vikings held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new indoor stadium, and fireworks were shot off after Gov. Mark Dayton did the honors. It was the culmination of 31 months of construction that forced the Vikings to play for two seasons at the University of Minnesota&#8217;s stadium across town.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The stadium&#8217;s biggest features are a translucent roof that allows natural light and a gigantic wall of glass on the west side of the building that looks out over downtown Minneapolis. The wall includes the largest pivoting doors in the world. Police are hunting for the shooter or shooters, saying &#8220;the suspects are still on the run.&#8221; They are urging residents and visitors to stay home, seek safety inside buildings and avoid public places. The city has sent smartphone alerts to tell people to stay indoors.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 MUNICH (AP) &#8211; Friday&#8217;s deadly shooting attack in a Munich shopping mall is the second attack in Germany this week. On Monday, a 17-year-old Afghan wounded four people with an ax and a knife on a regional train in Bavaria, and attacked another woman outside as he fled. All survived, although one man from the train remains in life-threatening condition. The attacker was shot and killed by police.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 TAMPA, Fla. (AP) &#8211; Hillary Clinton will reveal her vice presidential choice Friday in a text message to supporters and then appear with her running mate for the first time at a rally in Miami tomorrow. That&#8217;s according to a person familiar with the process. Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine has emerged as the leading contender to become Clinton&#8217;s vice president, according to Democratic sources familiar with her plans. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack is also under consideration, among a few others. The Turkish government has accused a U.S.-based cleric of being behind the uprising but he has strongly denied any knowledge of the attempted military coup.
