At the beginning of August, the district will be unveiling a new Facebook and Twitter page.<\/p>\n<p>Superintendent Josh Johnson says, &#8220;We look forward to using these sites to celebrate student accomplishments, share important information, and provide reminders to big events happening within the schools. Please look for these sites to be up and running on Monday, August 1, 2016.<\/p>\n<p>The school district will continue to provide information to our students and parents through the district Email listserv, website, and PowerSchool alerts.<\/p>\n<p>Our goal is to provide timely communications to our parents and stakeholders and ensure that everyone knows the great things that are happening with our students and staff in the school district.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Johnson says while the school board will no longer be distributing a district newsletter, it will continue to partner with local media to disseminate information to the community.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Bismarck (CSi) North Dakota Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem has issued a Cease and Desist Order Monday, banning Froggiez Painting &amp; More in Jamestown from doing business.<\/p>\n<p>Investigators determined that Jeremiah Bjerke, who is not a licensed contractor, took an advance payment of $6,000 to install a steel roof on a house and granary, but did not do any work on the project or issue a refund to the homeowner.<\/p>\n<p>Bjerke ignored the investigator\u2019s efforts to contact him and also ignored a formal demand for information from the Attorney General\u2019s office.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown (CSi) The World&#8217;s Largest Buffalo statue in Jamestown will start the process of undergoing a refurbishing later this year.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to painting, the work will entail cleaning, repairing of cracks and a seal coat at the top.<\/p>\n<p>Approved by the Jamestown Tourism Board of Directors the price tag is estimated at $8,500.<\/p>\n<p>The board voted unanimously to let the bid to Denny &amp; Son LLC, of Bismarck.<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown Tourism director, Searle Swedlund points out that there will be a cash-donation box at the statue to help raise dollars for maintenance. to be called &#8220;Feed the Buffalo.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>A CSi Cable viewing note, the presentation last week by Elmer Petersen, the creator of the sculpture will be showing starting today on CSi 10 The Replay Channel.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown (CSi) The motorcycle ride to benefit the Community Action, Region Six, Weekend Backpack for Kids, last Sunday raised a good amount of donations.<\/p>\n<p>The 140 mile ride started at Stutsman Harley-Davidson in Jamestown.<\/p>\n<p>Community Action Region VI Food Pantry Coordinator Sarah Oberlander says the ride had 46 bikes with 54 participates, raising a total of just over $2,700.<\/p>\n<p>The Jamestown Chapter Crusaders donated $1,000, the Jamestown HOG Chapter 1955 raised $1,732.<\/p>\n<p>The proceeds go towards the Backpacks for Kids program, that fills backpacks with food and other necessities for children in need.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; The weather&#8217;s getting hotter, but gasoline prices continue to cool off.<\/p>\n<p>The latest weekly report from GasBuddy.com says gas prices nationally are at their lowest level of the summer. In North Dakota, the average retail price is $2.21 a gallon. That&#8217;s more than 1 1\/2 cents lower than last week.<\/p>\n<p>In Fargo, gas is much cheaper than the statewide average &#8211; $2.03 a gallon.<\/p>\n<p>GasBuddy.com Senior Petroleum Analyst Patrick DeHaan says a glut of oil and refined products persists, and he expects many states with average gas prices under $2 a gallon by Halloween.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>GETTYSBURG, S.D. (AP) &#8211; Authorities have identified a motorcycle driver who died after a collision with a pickup truck in Potter County.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Highway Patrol says 23-year-old Luke Kleinlein, of Brookings, died after the truck collided with his bike on U.S. Highway 212 about 6 miles east of Gettysburg late Sunday.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The 59-year-old pickup driver was not hurt. Authorities are still investigating the crash.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Authorities have identified a Bismarck man who died after a crash at a Bismarck intersection involving a motorcycle and a pickup truck.<\/p>\n<p>Bismarck police said Monday that the motorcycle driver, 20-year-old Drew Bohlander, was pronounced dead at a hospital.<\/p>\n<p>Police say the collision happened about 2:40 p.m. Sunday. A passenger on the bike, 20-year-old Kelsey Nelson of Bismarck, suffered injuries that were not life-threatening.<\/p>\n<p>The two people in the pickup were not hurt. Bismarck police say the incident is being investigated.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Grand Forks police have called off the search for a person seen struggling in the Red River early Friday.<\/p>\n<p>The incident was reported by people fishing in the area. They told authorities that a male who had entered the river appeared to have been swept away by the current.<\/p>\n<p>Lt. Bill Macki says four days of extensive searching have turned up nothing, and police are not aware of any missing persons.<\/p>\n<p>Macki says there is no indication that the person failed to make it out of the river.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Fargo police are investigating a burglary at the Roger Maris Museum in West Acres Mall. Someone broke through a glass entry door at the mall early Tuesday and then smashed a glass display case at the museum. Items in the case were not immediately inventoried to determine what if anything was stolen. The museum dedicated to the late New York Yankees slugger contains displays and artifacts from Maris&#8217; boyhood days in Fargo and his professional baseball career.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A man who led police on an hour-long chase through three counties has been sentenced to five years in prison.<\/p>\n<p>The incident happened in March 2015 after William Schneider was pulled over on the Standing Rock Indian Reservation for an outstanding warrant. Schneider pleaded guilty to assaulting a federal officer and false statements.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities say one of the officers was hurt and required medical treatment after he tried to stop Schneider from driving away. Schneider allegedly drove as fast as 95 mph during the chase and ordered a passenger to throw out a bag of drugs and a firearm.<\/p>\n<p>U.S. District Judge Daniel Hovland ordered Schneider to serve three years of supervised release when his prison term ends.<\/p>\n<p>The Standing Rock reservation straddles the North and South Dakota border.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Trial has been delayed for six people arrested in connection with a series of heroin overdoses in Williston earlier this year.<\/p>\n<p>The defense for Chicago residents Sylvester McCurry and Jamelle Edwards and Williston residents Timothy Amundson, Johnny Thompson, Tanner Nielsen and Mariah Slater asked for more time to prepare.<\/p>\n<p>The six suspects were indicted by a grand jury in May on heroin distribution and possession charges and were scheduled to stand trial this month. They now are to stand trial together on Sept. 27 in U.S. District Court in Bismarck. They could face life in prison if convicted.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities say heroin supplied by the alleged drug ring was responsible for seven overdoses, including one that was fatal, over a weeklong stretch in January.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Hail in parts of the state has caused some damage to crops for North Dakota farmers.<\/p>\n<p>The Agriculture Department says in its weekly crop progress report that average temperatures were above normal while moisture fell across much of North Dakota.<\/p>\n<p>Farmers were haying, spraying and getting equipment ready to harvest.<\/p>\n<p>Winter wheat harvested was 13 percent, which was ahead of none last year. Oats harvested was 26 percent, which is well ahead of none last year.<\/p>\n<p>Dry peas harvested was 5 percent.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) &#8211; The University of North Dakota is dedicating a facility for aerospace-related studies and drone research.<\/p>\n<p>UND&#8217;s Center of Excellence for Unmanned Aircraft Systems will be a major tenant of Robin Hall.<\/p>\n<p>The 66,000-square-foot building was funded largely by private donations and $1.5 million from the North Dakota State Board of Higher Education Challenge Fund. The state authorized UND to spend up to $25 million on the project. It&#8217;s being built and managed by the Aerospace Foundation, the private-sector support arm of UND Aerospace.<\/p>\n<p>The building is named after husband-and-wife team Mary E. Bazar and Si Robin. They run a California-based aerospace company.<\/p>\n<p>The ribbon-cutting ceremony is\u00a0this \u00a0morning, on the west side of the UND campus.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A former city commissioner in Bismarck has filed a complaint with the state Health Department accusing the city of neglecting to address sewer wastewater and storm water problems on the city&#8217;s south side for decades.<\/p>\n<p>A petition with Steve Schwab&#8217;s letter was signed by more than 40 residents.<\/p>\n<p>City officials say flooding is an ongoing concern that&#8217;s being addressed. They dispute sewage is an issue. Health Department Water Quality Director Karl Rockeman also says that agency has no other complaints on file about sewage.<\/p>\n<p>Schwab maintains inadequate infrastructure has damaged buildings and created health concerns. He wants the city to find a solution.<\/p>\n<p>Public Works Director Michelle Klose says the city completed a storm water management plan in 2013 and has nearly finished an update.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Burleigh County will likely shoulder the bulk of the operating costs for a new Bismarck-area jail it is sharing with neighboring Morton County.<\/p>\n<p>Voters in both counties in June 2014 approved an additional sales tax to pay for the 475-inmate jail. It&#8217;s expected to start holding prisoners in early 2017.<\/p>\n<p>Burleigh County will provide 74 percent of the $7.5 million operating budget in 2017, while Morton County is responsible for the remaining 26 percent.<\/p>\n<p>Burleigh County Sheriff Pat Heinert says the county will use its existing 49 detention officers, and Morton County will use 20. Chapman was 3-0 with a 2.01 ERA and 20 saves in 31 games for the Yankees this season. He saved 146 games and recorded a 2.17 earned run average in six years with the Reds before he was traded to New York last December.<\/p>\n<p>White Sox ace Chris Sale will start on Thursday against the Cubs at Wrigley Field, his first appearance since receiving a five-day suspension. Sale was punished by the team for destroying collared throwback uniforms the team was scheduled to wear. The 27-year-old Sale is 14-3 with a 3.18 ERA this year.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Rangers slugger Prince Fielder is expected to have season-ending neck surgery for the second time in three years.
