The public should consider alternate routes if possible.<\/p>\n Road Closures are contingent upon changing weather conditions.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Jamestown (CSi) Law enforcement captured the suspect wanted in conjunction with the alleged home invasion and sexual assault Tuesday morning in Jamestown.\u00a0 Walter Grant, Jr. was apprehended about 10:12 a.m., Tuesday, in the area west of West End Hide and Fur on a hillside near the stockyards, Northwest of Jamestown.<\/p>\n Grant was spotted by an employee of the business, who then called police.<\/p>\n Grant was also tracked from his\u00a0 cellphone, as the search for Grant started at\u00a0 Jamestown Motel, his last reported residence.<\/p>\n During the search Grant was bitten by the Stutsman County Sheriff\u2019s Office, K-9 Unit, and an ambulance was sent to the scene of the capture, for medical assistance, and was transported to Jamestown Regional Medical Center for treatment.<\/p>\n He was taken into custody and remanded to the Stutsman County jail, awaiting formal charges.<\/p>\n The search included\u00a0 12\u00a0 Jamestown police officers, four Stutsman County Sheriff’s deputies and six from the James Valley Special Operations Team from Jamestown and Valley City.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Grant was wanted for questioning in regard to an alleged home invasion and alleged sexual assault of a female at a Southwest Jamestown residence at about 6:12 a.m. Tuesday.<\/p>\n During the incident the female victim was able to break away and call\u00a0 9-1-1.<\/p>\n Police Lt. Robert Opp says Grant was known to the victim, and they had spoken\u00a0 in a park and exchanged names about two weeks prior to the alleged home invasion.<\/p>\n The case is still under investigation.<\/p>\n He was also wanted for questioning concerning possible multiple sex offender registry violations.<\/p>\n Grant is a registered high-risk sex offender with convictions in Rolette County in 2012 and Burleigh County in 1989. He also has a federal conviction for abusive sexual conduct in 2005.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Jamestown (CSi)\u00a0 The Stutsman County Sheriff’ Office is advising residents that A high-risk convicted sex offender has changed his address in Stutsman County.<\/p>\n 33 year old\u00a0 Keith Lee Zonneville, now resides at 3351 Highway 281 SE No. 12. He does not own a vehicle.<\/p>\n Zonneville is a white male, 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing 179 pounds, with brown eyes and brown hair.<\/p>\n Zonneville was convicted of gross sexual imposition in 2007 in Stark County.<\/p>\n Zonneville is not wanted by police at this time. More information on registered offenders is available at www.sexoffender.nd.gov.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Valley City\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 KLJ reports that \u00a0a paving project will be starting with \u00a0the milling and overlay portion of the project on Wednesday August 24, <\/sup>2016. Civic Center Manager Pam Fosse said the Civic Center and city are taking a loss in hosting the event the past few years.\u00a0 Currently the agreement is in year five of the seven year agreement.<\/p>\n She suggests the event be self-funding, adding the Civic Center welcomes the opportunity to continue to host the event, and possibly negotiate a new agreement. The termination would be in effect following this year\u2019s event.\u00a0 Mayor Andersen suggested that the Rodeo Committee approach Jamestown Tourism for grant dollars to offset the short-fall, which was $17,000 last year. (AP) \u2014 The longest serving volunteer firefighter with the Jamestown Fire Department is retiring after 50 years of work, and celebrated with an Open House on Tuesday afternoon at the main city fire hall.<\/p>\n Gordie Christianson began volunteering at the department on Aug. 21, 1966, after being encouraged by some friends. He says the fire house has been his “second home” ever since.<\/p>\n Jamestown Fire Chief Jim Reuther has worked with Christianson for 27 years. He says the department is losing “a lot of knowledge” with Christianson’s departure.<\/p>\n Christianson says the biggest fire of his career was the one that destroyed the Gladstone Hotel in 1968. He says he plans to relax during retirement and looks forward to not receiving calls at 3 a.m.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n CROSBY, N.D. (AP) \u2014 Two children from Noonan are dead after a two-vehicle crash in Divide County.<\/p>\n The Highway Patrol says the 2-year-old and 8-year-old girls were passengers in a car that as rear-ended by a pickup truck at a construction zone on state Highway 5. Both vehicles overturned in the ditch.<\/p>\n The crash happened shortly before 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, about 3 miles east of Crosby. The car’s 31-year-old male driver and a 4-year-old boy who also was a passenger suffered serious injuries and were flown to a Minot hospital. They also are from Noonan.<\/p>\n The names of the victims were not immediately released.<\/p>\n The Chiefland, Florida, man driving the truck suffered minor injuries. A woman working as a flagger in the construction zone was struck by debris but not seriously injured.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n<\/div>\n DEVILS LAKE, N.D. (AP) \u2014 A Devils Lake man accused of burglarizing and burning down a fast food restaurant is set for trial later this year.<\/p>\n t Judge Donovan Foughty on Tuesday set a late-November trial start for Michael Ott and also rejected a defense request to bar some evidence and statements by Ott.<\/p>\n Authorities allege Ott set fire to a Hardee’s restaurant on Oct. 25, 2015, to cover up the burglary of more than $1,100. No one was hurt in the fire, but the blaze destroyed the business.<\/p>\n Ott faces felony arson and burglary charges along with misdemeanor drug-related counts. He could face more than 16 years in prison if convicted on all charges. He remains jailed.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n MINOT, N.D. (AP) \u2014 A Minot man has been sentenced to serve 35 years in prison for stabbing his older brother to death last spring.<\/p>\n Twenty-six-year-old Adolfo Contreras-Castillo on Tuesday pleaded guilty to murder in the March 1 death of 28-year-old Ignacio Contreras-Castillo.<\/p>\n Authorities say Adolfo Contreras-Castillo stabbed his brother after an argument at their Minot apartment, and stabbed another brother in the hand.<\/p>\n In return for his guilty plea, prosecutors dismissed felony charges of terrorizing and aggravated assault.<\/p>\n Contreras-Castillo must serve 85 percent of his sentence before being eligible for parole.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/p>\n BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) \u2014 Officials have identified a motorcyclist found dead in northeastern Montana as a North Dakota man who went missing in June.<\/p>\n The Roosevelt County Coroner’s Office says Zackary Baldwin, of Williston, died of blunt force trauma resulting from a motor vehicle crash. The 30-year-old man was found dead Friday and is believed to have died on June 26, the day he went missing.<\/p>\n The Billings Gazette reports that a road cleanup crew had spotted the man’s motorcycle in a ditch off Highway 2. Authorities responded and discovered Baldwin’s body nearby.<\/p>\n The Montana Highway Patrol says Baldwin had veered off the side of the road and rolled at least once down an embankment.<\/p>\n He had been wearing a helmet but it came off at some point.<\/p>\n The incident remains under investigation.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n BOWMAN, N.D. (AP) \u2014 Authorities in southwest North Dakota have identified the victim of a homicide that took place in Bowman over the weekend.<\/p>\n Police in Bowman say the victim was 23-year-old Rhame resident Nicholas Johnson.<\/p>\n Police say housekeeping staff at the El-Vu Motel found Johnson’s body on Saturday. Authorities have ruled the death a homicide, but would not discuss details of the case Tuesday.<\/p>\n Bowman Police Chief Chuck Headley says authorities suspect a man and woman from Bowman, who were also motel employees, and a Minnesota man were involved in the homicide. They are in custody in Denver. Headley says the trio will be extradited to North Dakota no later than Sept. 8.<\/p>\n Bowman is a small town in the southwestern corner of North Dakota. About 1,650 people live there.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n STANLEY, N.D. (AP) \u2014 A Powers Lake man accused of killing his older brother and leaving the body in a camper for nearly six months has been sentenced to serve two years in prison.<\/p>\n Forty-year-old Aaron Larson initially was charged with murder in the death of 46-year-old Terry Larson during a fight in March 2015. He reached a plea deal with prosecutors and pleaded guilty in June to a reduced charge of negligent homicide.<\/p>\n He was sentenced Monday to four years in prison with two years suspended and credit for nearly a year he’s already spent behind bars. He also was ordered to spend three years on probation and pay $1,100 in fees.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) \u2014 The North Dakota Supreme Court has ruled that a state district court judgeship recently vacated in Grand Forks will remain in that city.<\/p>\n Northeast Central District Judge Debbie Kleven stepped down this month to go into private practice. State law requires the state Supreme Court to review vacant judgeships and determine whether they should be filled, and whether they should remain in the same city or be moved elsewhere.<\/p>\n Justices determined that caseloads warrant the judgeship remaining in Grand Forks.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) \u2014 North Dakota’s average composite score on the ACT college-entrance exam had a slight decrease this year compared to 2015.<\/p>\n North Dakota’s 20.3 score is lower than the national average of 20.8 and below the state’s score of 20.6 from last year. The testing company says 7,379 North Dakota students took the ACT, that’s an increase of 272 students from 2015.<\/p>\n Twenty-two percent of students who took the exam hit the college-prepared benchmark in the four core subjects tested \u2014 reading, English, math and science. Reaching three or more benchmarks indicates a strong readiness for college course work.<\/p>\n Nationwide, Nearly 2.1 million graduating seniors took the ACT, up from 1.9 million in the last school year. (AP) \u2014 Williston’s City Commission has given final approval to a new ordinance that will eliminate oil field crew camps in city limits later this summer.<\/p>\n Commissioners on Tuesday unanimously approved a Sept. 1 deadline for crew camps to shut down, with companies given about another two years to clean up and reclaim the sites.<\/p>\n Operators of the crew camps will be allowed to propose repurposing their facilities to new uses, such as hotels.
