Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) — The 2012 Salvation Army\u2019s Campaign fell $16,000 short of its goal, of $146,000.<\/p>\n

Lt. Mitch Brecto says the kettles were higher in donations from the year before, while mail and other donations were down.<\/p>\n

$66,782 was collected from kettle donation<\/p>\n

The Jamestown Salvation Army was given a gift of a card in the mail from “Santa” with 10 $100 bills along with an anonymous check for $9,000 in a kettle.<\/p>\n

The 2012 campaign was the first year donations could be made with a credit card online.<\/p>\n

Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) — The Jamestown City Planning Commission postponed action on a zoning change in Northeast Jamestown to the February meeting.<\/p>\n

It also recommended Eventide at Hi-Acres have its architects prepare a full set of plans<\/p>\n

concerning an expansion project.<\/p>\n

Eventide was also urged to meet with all people in the neighborhood to explain the project in more depth.<\/p>\n

A large number of area property owners protested the zoning changes that would take two lots that Eventide had purchased along Second Street Southeast and change the zoning from Residential Single Family, Public, Open Development and Conservation, which would change allow Eventide to expand onto the lots.<\/p>\n

Seven property owners are eligible to protest and all seven signed a protest letter.<\/p>\n

Valley City, ND (KCSi-T.V. News Jan 10, 2013) — The Sheyenne River Flood Risk Management Feasibility study was reviewed with Valley City and U.S Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District officials at a public informational meeting in Valley City.<\/p>\n

The study conducted by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers indicates that the long view shows a low risk, of Devils Lake over-flowing.<\/p>\n

At the public meeting at Valley City High School, Corps officials said the risk has been lessened because of the installation of the two Devils Lake outlets.<\/p>\n

At the meeting, a question and answer session was available with Corps officials.<\/p>\n

Valley City Resident, Keith Hovland told the Corps officials that measures taken by the State of North Dakota, to reduce the Devils Lake risk appears minimal.<\/p>\n

Valley City commissioner Matt Pederson noted that the study does not address a flood economic impact to Valley City, adding, the city will pursue permanent flood levees and other locally generated projects with Governor Dalrymple and the State Water Commission.<\/p>\n

A Corps recommendation is to adjust Bald Hill Dam to handle wave action at a lake level of 1271 feet or higher.<\/p>\n

The plan to build a permanent levee would not be cost effective and would not be justified for implementation as a federal project.<\/p>\n

Cost effective alternatives will be carried forward and further development in the next phase of the study<\/p>\n

The study is in conjunction with the U-S Army Corps of Engineers and Valley City.<\/p>\n

A draft report by the Corps for Valley City, will be available for another public review this fall, as the next phase study will be ready in 2014.<\/p>\n

Phase Two will focus on identifying the tentatively plan, and Phase Three will include development of the tentatively selected plan.<\/p>\n

Valley City, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) — Valley City Public Schools will host the first Legislative Forum on Saturday, January 19, 2012, from 8:00 AM \u2013 10:00 a.m., at the Hi-Liner Activity Center, lobby.<\/p>\n

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – North Dakota lawmakers are exploring expanding a fund aimed at building affordable housing, primarily in the state’s booming oil patch.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The North Dakota Housing Finance Agency’s low-income housing development program gives individual and business donors a dollar-for-dollar tax credit, and they can designate their contributions for specific projects. The Legislature in 2011 approved $15 million in income tax credits to subsidize construction of nearly $105 million in low-income dwellings.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The House Finance and Taxation Committee heard much testimony on Monday in favor of expanding the tax credits to $20 million, with another $30 million coming from the state’s general fund.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Housing Finance Agency director Mike Anderson says the increased funding would be enough to build about 2,500 new housing units over the next two years.<\/p>\n

\u00a0WEST FARGO, N.D. (AP) – Officials in West Fargo say that the company that bought the old DMI wind turbine plant will use the facility to build 100,000-gallon storage vessels for energy industry products such as propane, water and anhydrous.
