Bismarck\u00a0 (CSI-NDNG) \u00a0A North Dakota Army National Guard unit has received an alert notification for possible mobilization. About 30 members of the Fargo-based 191st Military Police Company were placed in an alert status. The decision to mobilize this unit has not yet occurred, but upon a final decision, an official U.S. Army mobilization order will be published. The unit has detachments in Mayville and Bismarck.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

If mobilized, the unit will provide military police operations support to U.S. and coalition forces, in Afghanistan early in 2018.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Maj. Gen. Alan S. Dohrmann, North Dakota adjutant general, says, “I have complete confidence in the ability and professional competence of the leaders and Soldiers in our military police unit to accomplish their assigned missions.\u00a0 I remain appreciative of the tremendous support demonstrated by our Guard families, employers and friends during all of our domestic and overseas missions.”<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Soldiers were notified of their alert status by their leadership. The 191st Military Police Company specializes in law enforcement activities, mobility support operations, area security, detention operations, and criminal investigations in support of joint contingency efforts worldwide. They also execute domestic operations with emphasis on police and detention operations in support of state and civil authorities. About 30 Soldiers of the unit served in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, from 2012-2013, and about 180 Soldiers served in Baghdad as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2008-2009.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The 191st Military Police Company is led by Capt. Jacob Danduran, of Fargo, and 1st Sgt. Jennifer Gowan, of Grand Forks, North Dakota. Soldiers in the unit hail from nearly 70 communities across North Dakota, Minnesota and South Dakota.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The 136th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion (CSSB), based in Devils Lake, North Dakota, is the only other North Dakota Army National Guard unit that’s also in an alert status.<\/p>\n

Since the 2001 terrorist attacks on America, the North Dakota National Guard has mobilized more than 4,200 Soldiers and over 2,600 Airmen in support of the Global War on Terrorism. About 70 percent of all members serving today have joined since that time. With a total force of about 4,100 Guardsmen, the North Dakota National Guard remains ready for stateside response and national defense. For every 10,000 citizens in North Dakota, 65 serve in the North Dakota National Guard, a rate that’s more than four times the national average.<\/p>\n

Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 Update\u2026The Anne Carlsen Center in Jamestown celebrates its 75th<\/sup> Anniversary, on Friday September 23, 2016, with several events, a community celebration honoring the unforgettable individuals who have built a legacy of hope and independence.<\/p>\n

On Friday\u2019s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, Felicia Sargeant from ACC pointed out that when the facility opened in 1941 it was first called \u201cThe Crippled Childrens School,\u201d with 18 children enrolled.\u00a0\u00a0 She said over the years the name was changed to more accurately reflect the mission, and wider variety of services provided.<\/p>\n

In the 1980\u2019s the name was changed to The Anne Carlsen School, and the it became The Anne Carlsen Center, in 2008.<\/p>\n

Dr. Anne Carlsen was first a teacher and then the Principal.<\/p>\n

Currently the Anne Carlsen Center\u2019s Jamestown campus has 54 students enrolled.<\/p>\n

Anne Carlsen Center services are also provided in Fargo, Grand Forks, Devils Lake, Bismarck,\u00a0 Minot and Bottineau, currently serving 2,600.<\/p>\n

The day on September 23rd<\/sup> starts with a free Community Breakfast at 8:30-a.m., at the ACC gymnasium.\u00a0 Signs will be posted directing visitors to the parking area, and signs inside pointing directions.<\/p>\n

At 9:30-a.m., the Presentation and Movie, as families and staff members reflect on 75 years.<\/p>\n

The PBS Video will be shown \u2013 \u201cAnne Carlsen: Handicapped Hall of Fame, 1985.\u201d<\/p>\n

There will be informational booths with ACC staff available throughout the presentation to answer questions.<\/p>\n

This area will feature the vendors with which the Anne Carlsen Center does business. Each program within the Anne Carlsen Center will also have a booth that will provide more insight into their program. ELLENDALE, N.D. (AP) \u2014 The North Dakota Highway Patrol says a 74-year-old Mandan man died in a rollover accident near Ellendale.<\/p>\n

The patrol says the accident happened Friday night on state Highway 11. The victim failed to negotiate a curve and went into the ditch. He was pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n

Authorities say they believe alcohol was a factor in the crash. The victim was not wearing a seat belt.<\/p>\n

WATFORD CITY, N.D. (AP) \u2014 A Watford City woman who authorities say had five children in her sport utility vehicle when she was arrested for driving under the influence has pleaded not guilty to two charges.<\/p>\n

Court records show that 32-year-old Kathaleen Livingston pleaded not guilty Friday to misdemeanor counts of reckless endangerment and driving under the influence of alcohol.<\/p>\n

Court records show five children between the ages of 5 and 12 were in the SUV when a police officer stopped Livingston after seeing her driving erratically for several blocks.<\/p>\n

Court records show Livingston registered a blood alcohol level that was more than three times the legal driving limit.<\/p>\n

The newspaper reports it wasn’t immediately clear what relationship Livingston has with the children.<\/p>\n

Livingston’s attorney did not immediately respond to a request seeking comment on the case Monday.<\/p>\n

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) \u2014 Two South Dakota teens were arrested over the weekend in North Dakota after leading officers from two police departments on a chase in a van that police say had been stolen.<\/p>\n

Police in Bismarck say the 15- and 16-year-old girls were arrested Sunday.<\/p>\n

Police say the teenagers led officers on a chase that began in Mandan and crossed over into Bismarck. The crash ended when the teenagers crashed the van.<\/p>\n

Details of the incident, including how the teenagers got a hold of the van, were not immediately clear.<\/p>\n

The teenagers are being held at the Youth Correctional Center in Mandan.<\/p>\n

Update….<\/p>\n

MANDAN, N.D. (AP) \u2014 A man who escaped from a Washburn jail over the weekend has barricaded himself in a trailer home in Mandan.<\/p>\n

Law enforcement officers have detonated flash bombs to try to force 35-year-old William Lyn Rawson out of the home. Mandan Police Lt. Pat Haug says Rawson has said he has a weapon.<\/p>\n

Mandan Police Deputy Chief Paul Leingang says the incident began Monday morning. Police have evacuated some people in the area.<\/p>\n

Rawson was discovered to be missing about 6 a.m. Sunday from the Detention Center in Washburn. The McLean County Sheriff’s Department has said Rawson was in custody on suspicion of a number of offenses, including eluding law enforcement, possessing a stolen vehicle and reckless endangerment.<\/p>\n

Washburn is about 35 miles north of Bismarck.<\/p>\n

FARGO, N.D. (AP) \u2014 As thousands of commercial drone take to the skies under new Federal Aviation Administration rules, some small operators are pursuing a coveted exemption that would allow them to fly where they can’t be seen by the pilot.<\/p>\n

The companies who want them say the so-called line-of-sight exemptions are essential for commercial uses. The FAA has been selective in handing out the exemptions, with only three so far.<\/p>\n

Two North Dakota companies who are working on a project to use drones to help respond to natural disasters are seeking the exemption. Matt Dunlevy, head of Grand Forks-based SkySkopes, says the ability to fly long distances is the “silver bullet” that will spur the industry.<\/p>\n

The FAA expects there will be 600,000 commercial drone aircraft operating in the U.S. within the year.<\/p>\n

SANDUSKY, Iowa (AP) \u2014 Opponents of a major oil pipeline say roughly 40 people have been arrested during a public demonstration along the project’s route in southeast Iowa.<\/p>\n

More than 150 protesters gathered in Sandusky on Saturday to try to block the $3.8 billion Dakota Access Pipeline.<\/p>\n

The project would stretch 1,172 miles over four states once complete, transporting oil from North Dakota’s Bakken formations to Illinois. It also would cross 18 Iowa counties.<\/p>\n

Protester Carolyn Scherf of Dubuque says she’s concerned the finished pipe could leak or break and contaminate rivers. Scherf says protesters successfully stopped work on the pipeline on Saturday.<\/p>\n

On Friday, a federal appeals court ordered a halt to construction of another section of the pipeline in North Dakota.<\/p>\n

PORTLAND, Maine (AP) \u2014 The Penobscot Nation and Maine climate activists are calling on President Barack Obama to stop a proposed $3.8 billion pipeline under construction in North Dakota.<\/p>\n

June Sapiel and Dawn Neptune Adams from the Penobscot tribe are among speakers demanding action at an event Saturday in Portland. The event was co-sponsored by Sierra Club, Maine Peoples Alliance, 350 Maine, and Food and Water Watch.<\/p>\n

The Texas company developing the four-state Dakota Access pipeline says it is committed to the project despite strong opposition and a federal order to halt construction near an American Indian reservation in North Dakota.<\/p>\n

COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho (AP) \u2014 Federal prosecutors have their first guilty plea in a multistate drug trafficking case involving at least 20 people, including a Coeur d’Alene gastroenterologist and his family.<\/p>\n

Geena Milho pleaded guilty this week to conspiracy to distribute heroin, oxycodone and methamphetamine.<\/p>\n

Milho and 10 others were indicted by a federal grand jury in Coeur d’Alene on April 19.<\/p>\n

In a plea agreement, Milho admitted she was part of the group that prosecutors say was headed by Loren Toelle, the wife of Stanley Toelle. He’s a gastroenterologist who worked at Kootenai Health. He’s charged with conspiracy to launder money.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors say the group transported drugs from Nevada and California to Idaho, Washington, Montana and North Dakota from 2009 until early this year.<\/p>\n

ST. CLOUD, Minn. (AP) \u2014 Minnesota<\/span> Gov. Mark Dayton plans to travel to St. Cloud to meet with the mayor and other local officials following the weekend stabbing at a local mall that’s being investigated as a potential act of terrorism. Authorities say nine people were stabbed and injured by a young Somali man at Crossroads Center mall on Saturday. Investigators say he was dressed as a private security guard and was wielding what appeared to be a kitchen knife.<\/span><\/p>\n

Minnesota has opened its new stadium with a 17-14 win over Green Bay. Sam Bradford was sharp in his Vikings debut, completing 22 of his 31 passes for 286 yards, two TDs and no turnovers. Aaron Rodgers was sacked five times and had two turnovers, including an interception in Minnesota territory at the two-minute warning.<\/span><\/p>\n

Running back Adrian Peterson left in the third quarter against Green Bay with an injured right knee.<\/p>\n

Peterson was injured after a 5-yard run late in the third quarter. He was not able to put any pressure on his leg has he hobbled off the field and needed to be helped back to the locker room for further testing. Upon arriving in the locker room, Peterson was quickly ruled out for the rest of Sunday night.<\/p>\n

Peterson tore the ACL in his left knee in the second-to-last game of the 2011 season.<\/p>\n

Denver’s defense scored twice in the fourth quarter to secure a 34-20 triumph over Indianapolis. <\/span><\/p>\n

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) \u2014Louisville surged to Number 3 in The Associated Press college football poll on Sunday, matching the best ranking in school history, and Ohio State moved up to Number 2 behind Alabama.<\/p>\n

The Crimson Tide received 50 first-place votes after coming from 21 points down to win 48-43 at Mississippi on Saturday. The Buckeyes moved up one spot after an emphatic 45-24 victory at Oklahoma.<\/p>\n

No team made a bigger move than Louisville, which jumped seven spots and received six-first place votes after Lamar Jackson and the Cardinals beat Florida State 63-20. The Seminoles slid 10 spots to Number13.<\/p>\n

The Cardinals were Number 3 on November 5th, 2006, during coach Bobby Petrino’s first stint with Louisville.<\/p>\n

North Dakota State didn’t make the rankings, but received 74 points after upsetting Iowa.<\/p>\n

JOLIET, Ill. (AP) \u2014 Martin Truex Jr. took the lead after a late restart and pulled away to open NASCAR’s Sprint Cup playoff with a victory at Chicagoland Speedway.<\/p>\n

Chase Elliott appeared on his way to the win and a spot in the second round of the 10-race Chase until Michael McDowell’s spin brought a caution with five laps left, giving Truex the opportunity to pull ahead following the caution.<\/p>\n

Joey Logano (loh-GAH’-noh) was third, followed by Elliott and Ryan Blaney.<\/p>\n

INDYCAR-SONOMA…<\/p>\n

SONOMA, Calif. (AP) \u2014 Simon Pagenaud (PA’-zheh-noh) won at Sonoma Raceway to give Roger Penske an IndyCar championship on the 50th anniversary of one of the most storied organization in motorsports.<\/p>\n

The Frenchman won his first career IndyCar title in his second season driving for Penske, doing it in dominating fashion to win the season finale.<\/p>\n

Pagenaud won the pole to earn another point, led the most laps and won a race that was worth double points in the standings.<\/p>\n

SINGAPORE (AP) \u2014 Nico Rosberg celebrated his 200th Formula One start by winning the Singapore Grand Prix and grabbing the lead from Lewis Hamilton in the driver standings. Rosberg held on to beat a fast-finishing Daniel Ricciardo (rih-KAHR’-doh), with Hamilton finishing third to fall eight points behind Rosberg.<\/p>\n

EVIAN-LES-BAINS, France (AP) \u2014 In Gee Chun won the Evian (AY’-vee-ahn) Championship in France with a 21-under total, breaking the record for the lowest score in a major. Chun closed with a 2-under 69 to finish four shots in front of fellow South Koreans Sung Hyun Park and So Yeon Ryu.<\/p>\n

ELIZABETH, N.J. (AP) \u2014 FBI agents and police have converged on an apartment near a train station in Elizabeth, New Jersey. Five suspicious devices were found in a backpack a short distance from the station. One device exploded while a bomb squad robot was attempting to disarm it. It’s not clear if there’s connection between the apartment and the explosion.<\/p>\n

NEW YORK (AP) \u2014 Authorities have been questioning several people as they work to determine whether there’s a connection between explosive devices found over the weekend in New York and New Jersey. They include a device which exploded in Manhattan, injuring 29 people, and a pipe bomb that went off in a Jersey shore town, hurting no one.<\/p>\n

ST. CLOUD, Minn. (AP) \u2014 Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton plans to travel to St. Cloud to meet with city officials about the weekend stabbing at a local mall. Authorities say seven men, one woman and a 15-year-old girl were wounded by a young Somali man dressed as a security guard. The rampage ended when the man was fatally shot by an off-duty police officer.<\/p>\n

BEIRUT (AP) \u2014 A Syrian activist group says 92 people have been killed in Syria since the start of the U.S.-Russia-brokered cease-fire a week ago. A senior Syrian opposition figure calls the truce “clinically dead.” He says it has been repeatedly violated and did not succeed in opening roads for aid to enter besieged rebel-held areas.<\/p>\n

PARIS (AP) \u2014 A ceremony in memory of all victims of terror attacks has been held in Paris. The names of the victims of attacks carried out by Islamic extremists in Paris and Nice were read during the ceremony, which also remembered those killed in Brussels, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast and Mali. France remains under a state of emergency.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
