His wife Margaret died four years prior in 2008 at age 91.

The plaque will be placed in the Louis L’Amour Writer’s Shack at Frontier Village, a place where Sneider said Reese Hawkins spent a great deal of time.

“He spent many, many hours there so it’s fitting to have it placed in that spot,” she said.

The board also unveiled results of a survey conducted this summer by Jamestown College students regarding feedback from Jamestown tourists.

The survey, which was taken in two parts at a June Wild West Shootout at Frontier Village and at Jamestown’s annual Kite Festival, indicated that 40 percent of the tourists who came for those events were from outside North Dakota.

Survey results also indicated an additional need for the BCTF to continue advancing with social media such as Facebook and Twitter, as 36 percent of tourists surveyed stating those are the outlets they use most for receiving information.

In other business, the board awarded a $3,400 construction bid to Chuck Christ for building a new dividing wall inside the BCTF’s office.

Executive Board Treasurer Scott Hare’s monthly report also indicated positive financial numbers for this year’s tourism season.

A memorial plaque dedicated to former Jamestown booster Reese Hawkins will be created and displayed at Frontier Village in Jamestown.
