FARGO, N.D. (AP) \u2014 Investigators suspect drugs may have caused the deaths of a couple whose bodies were found in a Fargo apartment.<\/p>\n
Police responded to a medical call and found the bodies of 27-year-old Molli Bernstein and 29-year-old Patrick Hensley on Saturday. Authorities say they found drugs and drug paraphernalia at the apartment. They don’t suspect foul play. Hensley was facing felony drug charges at the time of his death.<\/p>\n
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) \u2014 Minnesota\u2019s chief federal prosecutor is urging other people to draw on the example set by the parents of 11-year-old Jacob Wetterling, whose kidnapping remained unsolved for 27 years until this summer.<\/p>\n
Fifty-three-year-old Danny Heinrich led authorities to Jacob\u2019s remains. In return, prosecutors agreed not to charge him with murder. Under a plea bargain, Heinrich was sentenced to 20 years in prison on Monday, on child pornography charges.<\/p>\n
U.S. Attorney Andrew Luger said in a statement afterward that Patty and Jerry Wetterling transformed their grief into hope, dedicating their lives to helping other parents of missing children bring their kids home.<\/p>\n
Luger notes that the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children last year received more than 4 million online tips of suspected child sexual exploitation. He says no concern is too small to report.<\/p>\n

CANNON BALL, N.D. (AP) \u2014 Authorities say the use of water spray in below-freezing temperatures against Dakota Access oil pipeline protesters was necessary, and they won’t rule out doing it again.<\/p>\n
Authorities used the tactic during a skirmish with protesters overnight in southern North Dakota. Morton County Sheriff Kyle Kirchmeier says authorities used fire hoses to repel aggressive protesters who were throwing objects including rocks, asphalt and water bottles at officers. One officer was hit in the head.<\/p>\n
The human rights organization Amnesty International and other groups have denounced officers’ use of water when temperatures were in the 20s. Dallas Goldtooth with the Indigenous Environmental Network says at least 17 protesters were taken to hospitals, some with hypothermia.<\/p>\n
Mandan Police Chief Jason Ziegler says authorities won’t rule out using water again if it’s deemed necessary.<\/p>\n

FARGO, N.D. (AP) \u2014 Relatives in North Dakota will soon travel to Hawaii where the remains of their loved one who survived the attack at Pearl Harbor will be interned with those of his identical twin who was killed when the Japanese attacked 75 years ago.<\/p>\n
Pearl Harbor survivor John Anderson died in 2015, and his remains were cremated. His family members in Fargo-Moorhead will travel to Hawaii to bury him at the USS Arizona Memorial on Dec. 7 next to his brother Jake Anderson.<\/p>\n
Keith Anderson, John and Jake Anderson’s nephew, say Jake Anderson was killed by machine gunfire while trying to retrieve his guns on the deck. John Anderson, who was burned and injured, rescued others.<\/p>\n
Over 11,000 people died in the attack on Dec. 7, 1941. Of the 319 who survived, only five remain.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

BEULAH, N.D. (AP) \u2014 One of North Dakota’s largest ongoing construction projects is making its host county a harbor of economic stability while much of the state experiences tough economic times.<\/p>\n
The Bismarck Tribune reports a $500 million urea fertilizer plant started in 2014 is past the half-way construction mark within the sprawling industrial complex of Basin Electric Power Cooperative’s Dakota Gasification Co. plant northwest of Beulah.<\/p>\n
Mercer County is already home to four power plants, two lignite coal mines and the synfuels plant. Sales were up 17 percent in the most recent reporting quarter compared to last year. That same number declined 26 percent statewide.<\/p>\n
Tax Commissioner Ryan Rauschenberger says coal industry counties are usually a beacon of stability over the years as other counties that are dependent on agriculture and oil struggle with declining commodity prices.<\/p>\n
