HIGHS<\/p>\n<p>IN THE MID 20S.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Valley City\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 Barnes County officials are asking that those who rent or own storage units to check them for possible break-ins, lock tampering, changed locks, or any stolen items.<\/p>\n<p>Sheriff, Randy McClaflin says an individual\u00a0 has been arrested and faces multiple charges<strong> in Barnes and Stutsman County,<\/strong> in connection with\u00a0 a number of storage unit break-ins.<\/p>\n<p>That person will be formally charged\u00a0 through the Barnes County State\u2019s Attorney\u2019s office. He says more details are forthcoming.<\/p>\n<p>Any\u00a0 rural storage unit break-ins should be\u00a0 reported\u00a0 to the Barnes County Sheriff\u2019s Office at 845-8530 or Valley City owned storage unit break-ins to the Valley City Police Department at 845-3110.<\/p>\n<p>In Stutsman County or Jamestown call the LEC at 252-1000.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Valley City (CSi)\u00a0 A Hastings man seriously injured in a crash last August,\u00a0\u00a0that killed the driver of another car, has\u00a0been charged with Criminal Vehicular Homicide.<\/p>\n<p>The crash killed a LaMoure man on Highway one just north of Hastings,\u00a0 August 31st.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_112713\" style=\"width: 171px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-112713\" class=\"size-full wp-image-112713\" src=\"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/sauter.jpg\" alt=\"Steven Sauter\" width=\"161\" height=\"161\" srcset=\"https:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/sauter.jpg 161w, https:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/sauter-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 161px) 100vw, 161px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-112713\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Steven Sauter<\/p><\/div>\n<p>A Toyota driven by David Roehl of LaMoure was southbound on Highway\u00a0one and the Pontiac Bonneville driven by Steven Sauter of Hastings crossed the center line and struck the other vehicle head-on. Roehl died\u00a0from crash injuries.<\/p>\n<p>Barnes County\u00a0authorities arrested\u00a0Sauter\u00a0 on December 12th.<\/p>\n<p>Sheriff Randy McClaflin says Sauter was seriously injured in the crash and was\u00a0 hospitalized for treatment\u00a0for several weeks before his December 12th arrest.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Valley City\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 CHI Mercy Health will sponsor a New Year\u2019s Eve Party at the Gaukler Family Wellness Center on Saturday, December 31.\u00a0 The event will be free and open to the public.<\/p>\n<p>Stephanie Mayfield says the event starts at 7-p.m. with the doors staying open until 9pm and runs until 12:30a.m.\u00a0 Parents and children 12 and under will have access to open swimming, basketball, and use of the indoor playground from 7-p.m.-9-p.m.\u00a0 At 9:30-p.m., a family movie will be shown inside the gymnasium until 11:30pm.<\/p>\n<p>Mayfield\u00a0 encourages everyone to dress relaxed, in lounge clothes or pajamas for the movie.\u00a0 The public is also welcome to bring pillows or blankets for their seating for the movie. Complimentary, healthy snacks (and popcorn) will be served throughout evening.<\/p>\n<p>Teens seventh grade and older will be shown a teen movie upstairs in the Yoga Room from 7pm until 9pm. Ladd Erickson says the protests have created an unprecedented burden on the court system. Commission on Legal Counsel for Indigents Executive Director H. Jean Delaney says North Dakota law allows the court to seek reimbursement for court-appointed attorneys.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) North Dakota&#8217;s oil production topped 1 million barrels daily in October, after sliding below the threshold in the two previous months. The state produced 1.04 million barrels of oil per day in October, up from 971,000 barrels daily in September. North Dakota sweet crude fetched an average of $39.31 in October, up from $32.98 the month prior. A record 13,457 oil wells were producing in October, up 79 from September.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) North Dakota&#8217;s Agriculture Department is seeking participants for the second year of an industrial hemp research program. Three farming operations in three counties grew 70 acres of hemp this year under a federally approved research effort. The goal is to determine whether hemp can be a successful crop in North Dakota. (VCSU) \u2013\u00a0Valley City State University linebacker Nicholas McBeain has been named to the 2016 AFCA NAIA Coaches\u2019 All-America Team announced today by the American Football Coaches Association.<\/p>\n<p>McBeain, a senior from Shakopee, Minn., was named 2nd Team All American by the AFCA coaches after a record-setting season for the Vikings. He is one of just six linebackers named to the All-America Team.<\/p>\n<p>The all-time leading tackler in VCSU history, McBeain posted a school-record 188 tackles this season and led the NAIA in tackles per game (18.8). He broke five different season and career tackle records at VCSU during the 2016 season. His 446 career tackles are 80 more than the second best career total in Viking football history.<\/p>\n<p>McBeain was also named 1st Team All Conference this season and has earned All Conference awards each of his three seasons at VCSU. He is also a nominee for the Cliff Harris Award, which recognizes the best small college defensive player in the nation.<\/p>\n<p>The AFCA has selected an All-America team since 1945 and currently selects teams in all five of its divisions. Beginning this year, the AFCA has started selecting a first and second team.
